Balancing sports and school?

How do you guys do it? I want to join track, but I'm worried about the time commitment affecting my grades/other ECs.

Well Sports are a really big EC for me because I dedicate 16+ hours to them a week. During sports seasons I usually meet with clubs in the mornings instead of after school and then check back with the club to see if I missed anything. Playing a sport doesn’t affect my grades at all. It makes school really fun, like wearing a jersey on gameday, sitting with my team at lunch, and getting asked about the season and starting all the time. I love it.

I know that I have practice/games for 3 hours after school and I plan around. I do homework on the bus ride to games. Just manage your time and you’ll be fine  Track is a great sport

I think it’s not a biggy. On game days, I do my hw on the bus. I occasionally have a conflict with matching band, but I always tell them ahead of time so they don’t get that mad at me for missing practice. It’s really fun since you can say you are one of the x number of people on the track team.

Track isn’t that bad, it’s swimming that takes up the most time. Try swimming at regional level and cycling, running cross country and track and doing triathlons all at the same time. That was hard to fit around school work.
I personally found it quite easy to balance though, because I’ve always done a lot of sport so I was good at time management, if you’re not it will be hard though.

Not bad. You find tons of places to do HW. Also in my school people on varsity sports don’t have to take PE (required in IL) so it becomes a study hall. You should be able to manage but it won’t be easy
