Balding in early 20's.

Im 23 and Balding. I started about a year ago and it wast to bad. I got a haircut today and its now starting to recede. Im only 23 jeez, this sucks.

Time to go Vin Diesel on that.

I know someone who was bald on the top of his head by the time he was 18. I know other 18 year olds whose hair was beginning to thin. Everyone's different, and your balding isn't abnormal. Don't sweat it.

Vin Diesel that!

what am i gonna do?! i think i'm having the same problem. everyone says my hair is thinner than regular people's.

my doctor says one option is a $50 a month lifelong treatment that will slow the balding rate greatly. but is it worth it?

Dude, you're 23. I see so many guys at my university balding that are younger than you. I knew a guy in my high school that was almost completely bald by 17. Now THAT's something to complain about.

That blows dude.

Tell them you look like Ed Harris.

Sorry man, it sucks to hear that your hair's starting to go, especially since it's pretty clear you're not all that cray about going without hair. I used to shave my own head for years, mostly because it was convenient and very nice when I was out running or climbing. On the other hand, I really like having my hair back now.

So, I think it might be best to plan for the future even if you decide that having no hair now is fine. If left untreated, you may have little to work with if/when you change your mind. $600/yr isn't too bad. Just consider $50/mo a hefty bar tab or taking a girl out for a nice dinner. Either way, if you do decide to go short, more power to ya!--there are definitely days when I want to buzz it all off.

yeah finasteride will slow it (although often not to a large extent). just keep in mind that there are side effects in a small number of people. Some people have experienced permanent impotence from it, although usually if you experience impotence, it's temporary.
