I have my Baldwin-Wallace audition this weekend. Right now I’m not compleatly sure what to expect (besides all my audition materials). What is the audition like? I just got an Email from the school saying that the audition will be from 9-5… that seems a little excesive to me. Anyone whos auditioned there so far, what was your audition like? Was it that long? I’m just affraid that I wont make my flight back…

Hi mtfan. Re: B-W, D auditioned at B-W on October 30. She checked in at the desk first thing and found out the assigned times when she would sing her songs and do her monologue, etc. She had to play the piano in yet a different room, and separately take a Music Theory test (in her designated time/group) which took about 1 hour. There was a lunch break included. The dance audition was in a group- they learned a routine and then were divided into smaller groups to be observed; this was at the end of the day. I recall that she finished about a half hour or so early, but sinice the group dance is at the end, there is no way to get out early. Hope this helps and good luck. We really liked the conservatory. D has gotten accepted so far to B-W and IWU. Needs to hear from 4 more that she auditioned for, plus Northwestern (non-audition). So far we have met BayMom's son and FosseLover's daughter and think we saw Broadway32nd at B-W as well! Nice to be back.

Ilmomsk,

It's good to see you back. Tell your D congratulations on her acceptance to Illinois Wesleyan, and congratulations again on her B-W acceptance. Way to go!

Brian's mom - senior at BW - write me. I understand you've been reading but haven't posted. We had a nice visit with your son and others at BW on Friday.

BW is another great program - very focused on music. We had a nice visit there. It is also another program that is very hard to get into.

ilmomsk and Broadway32nd(even if you've already decided against it), will either of you be attending the BW senior showcase on monday? Also ilmomsk, I'm assuming from your SN that your from Illinois, I live in IL too. Just wondering, but if you feel comfortable answering, what part of IL are you from?

I wouldn't miss the BW senior showcase for the world... If I can help it!!! I'm going out of town this weekend for a wedding and I'm hoping I'll get back in time for the showcase. I'll be so upset if I miss it (my voice teach will br too!), even though I've heard them all! Can we say.... amazing talent! Them kids can saaang! hehe

Hi mtfan-Congrats on B-W.
We are on the fence about coming Monday-still trying to plan. We are from Chi suburban area. We would love to see it as B-W is still on our D's list of possible schools. But we are also needing to see PSU & Miami campuses, and ...who knows about CMU. How to fit it all in. No decision yet from CMU or Michigan. Gee, wouldn't it be great if everyone's colleges would let us know by the start of spring break?

I live in the north suburbs of chicago. A girl that I meet at my audition who also got in is also from the North Burbs. Way to represent Chicago at BW! I most likely wont be able to make it to the showcase unfortunatly, I wish I could go and meet everyone, but my parents are enjoying 2 weeks in Hawaii while I sit at home over spring break... but if theres a will, theres a way and if theres any way for me to get there, I will!

I live about 5 minutes away from BW, I take voice there.

My audition isn't till March, but I am accepted academically with some hefty scholarships, so that's good!

do you have to be academically accepted first and then they schedule your audition? I know that's how UMICH is.

Yes you do. But the academic standards for acceptance are lower then UMich. If you have at least a 3.2 you'll get scholarships.

for the senior talent showcase I know they go up to new york but for how long. Do they just stay in a hotel and do their showcase in a couple of days or what??

The seniors go to NY for a week, do the showcase twice then stay the rest of the week to go on agent interviews and auditions. Every year all the seniors have gotten agent interest (with many signing with an agent) and multiple auditions to attend. BW has built it's name in NY and is on the lips of most of the major agencies and casting directors. Every masterclass we've had so far this year has talked about how BW is one of their favorite college showcases to attend because they know the talent coming out is first rate.

Hey everyone. I have a few questions, I know these are so late but is BW rolling admissions? Also whata re the audition req? I cannot find them anywere on the website. I am assuming a monolouge and 2 songs . Somewhere I heard 3 songs but I am not sure. Also I ehard that if you cannot sight read or are proficent in musical theory they automatically reject you, which is why I intially got scared and took it off my list. Is that true or can anyone correct me or throw any info out there? Thanks so much ro feel free to pm me.

Noooo no no! I was highly incompetant at music theory when I first got here. I'm sure I bomed my theory exam when i auditioned 2 years ago, and I still got in. The exam is not even part of you initial audition anymore. So don't even worry about that. For your audition you need to have a monologue and 3 cong choices prepaired, at your audition Vicky(program head) will choose 2 for you to sing. And while the College itself is rolling admissions, the program isnt really. I know for this years auditions they're doing the following... We had one early admission audition back in Nov where the auditioners were notified by Dec. For all the the auditions in January and February we should be sending them out at the same time. You can expect them by march 1st.

Thank you so much! My strongest suit is def. singing so thats a plus. Is there any sort of dance audition? Also if you do the common app. do they want a suppliment?

Yes, there is a dance portion. When I auditioned in Nov. I thought that it was pretty hard, but then again, I don't have any dance experience.

The dance audition was pretty basic in my opinion. There were basic steps (nothing super advanced) but they were just all put together at a quicker tempo. If you have had some basic dance training, I wouldn't stress it. Overall, it was just a fun dance and a great audition, so have fun with it! Don't be afraid to add your personality to it.

What is the average gpa for acceptance there jw?
