I was just wondering how many people from balkans are applaying to US universities. So everybody from balk post here

Although some people in Romania may beg to differ, I suggest we include it in the Balkanic states.
I am Romanian and I am applying to the United States.

Hi! I'm a Bulgarian girl applying to some US Colleges and IU Bremen.
Good Luck!

Hi evryone! ckakalacheva-(oh god this was difficult :) ) I heard of Bremen but i dont know what kind of u it is, can you give me some input?

Can you all also post your SAT I and II results. I am really interested in math part cause i think that almost everybody scores more than 700 from Balkan countries

I got accepted to Bremen. I also visited the campus, and I know it's a great place. The university is very young, nevertheless it is very well funded and is becoming better every year. Moreover, the U is truly international - I think there are more Romanians or Bulgarians there than say, Germans or Americans.

I scored 1580 on the SAT(800 V, 780 M). 740 Writing, 800 MathIIC and 760Physics

balac, kakalacheva - that's my family name :o)) and 'c' comes from Christina :o))
Anyway, my stats: SAT I m800/v710
WR660/Chem710/IIC760/Fr 750
TOEFL 290

Christina (I'll call you that way:)) - which city are you from in Bulgaria?

Hi! I'm another Bulgarian applying to u.s. colleges and to IUB :)
As for my stats: http://www.************/2009/display.php?user=Veselina

Good luck to all of you!

Vessy

hi
im from croatia(desperately trying to get into the European Union but till then...balkan..yeah) , got into colgate university NY

Congratulations, ena!
Anyway, you know, even after we all get into the EU, we'll still be balkanics, wether we like it or not. Btw: what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you first thing of the notion of Balkan?

Both with vesselina we are from Sevlievo which is a small town in the central north part of Bulgaria.

the first thing that comes to my mind is stubborn very stubborn

Well, I will try my own words:
good: willpower, hard-work, having a goal in life (that is overcoming poverty for most)
bad: "let thy neighbour's goat die as well" attitude (you should know what I'm talking about), intolerance, corruption, the belief that your country is the center of the universe (there are theories here in Romania that the first humans were our ancestors, that our ancestors invented writing and just about the whole of civilization, that Christ was Romanian and whatnot)
Feel free to modify the list!

Do you guys ever get interviews over there?

just for MIT

I had one(for Bates), but I had to go to Budapest.

rofl bogororo i know exactly what you are talking about.. lol
some speculations do have quite a strong foundation though.. eg. how do you explain that certain painted shards found at sarmisegetuza are painted in exactly the same way as early mesopotamian vases? having in mind that those shards are considerably older than the mesopotamian civilization is supposed to be!
lol i cant help but laugh at myself.. anyways when i think of balkanic peops
nostalgia
passion
diligence
but also enjoying life
comes into my mind..

another Bulgarian here :)
congratulations, ena
colgate university is a great school, I'd be sooo happy if accepted :)
about the math part - 750 Ic, 800 IIc
good luck, go balkan! :)
