Anyone know how many they take?

Hello, dreamgirl!

The Ball State University BFA program acceptance varies each year, but the numbers are usually between 16-20 people for Musical Theatre and 16-20 for the BFA Acting option.

Hope this helps! I am currently a sophomore in the MT program, and a student employee in the Theatre and Dance office! Let me know if you have anymore questions!

My D is a freshman there. This year they took 12 girls and 8 boys.

Does she like it there?

She absolutely loves it. Great faculty, great program, great campus.

Some calls have been made tonight… don’t know if all offers are being made tonight - but it was an exciting evening here when my D got the call!

Our house has been rocking since my D got her call!!

My son got a call, and didn’t even let me know! Doesn’t he know how hard I have worked for this?

Our son got his call last night at a highschool basketball game. Needless to say we are very excited!

OMG @katestyles I think I would ring my D’s neck if she did that… and I wouldn’t put it past her. She’s so afraid of appearing to have a big head, I’m not even allowed to tell FB friends when she gets an acceptance… But… she was pretty excited last night!

I didn’t get a call yet…should I.be worried?

We haven’t either…so I thought maybe today we would get a NO letter by mail…but nothing.
Perhaps we are on a wait list of some kind. Has anyone gotten any NO THANKYOU letters?

As a quick update, we are still in the process of calling all accepted students and priority waiting list students. It is our hope to gave these calls finished by early next week. Because we try and personally call all students, this process can take some time. That said, I can assure you all that we are working to complete all calls as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Ball State Bill

Thanks!

My d got her call on Tues as well! Happy dance going on here in Aurora, IL!

So…just got a call from Ball this evening. D was so excited because she knew calls were going out and she answered it. The girl said congrats on being accepted in to Ball State blah blah blah and does D have any questions (D was admitted several months ago with nice scholarship already). D said she was so happy that its kind of a blur what the young lady actually said to her. When she hung up I asked her if the girl said Musical Theatre? D can’t remember. I called the number back and it was the admissions office but the recording said it was closed.
Really kinda cruel… I know they don’t know we are sitting on pins and needles but…really?

mommyofactress,
I am assuming that call was just from the Admissions Area versus the Department of Theatre and Dance. I say that because I am the only person making calls and I did not make any calls after 5pm tonight. Feel free to send me a PM if you want further info.
Thanks,
Ball State Bill

Thanks ball state bill! After a long family discussion we figured that was the case! With the girl sounding so young we knew it could not have been a MT professor of any kind. D was just so excited to see the caller ID say Ball State that her brain and hearing functions went out the window!
It was nice of them to call…it was just bad timing!
Thanks so much for coming to the board and keeping us all up to date! It means the world to these kids(and parents).

My pleasure! And let your daughter know that we still have calls being made into early next week so not too fret. I know how crazy and stressful this time can be and I wish this all could happen faster. That said, the Department tries to personally reach out to students we accept and/or those on the priority wait list rather than sending emails. With 3 BFA programs (MT, Acting, and Dance) that is a LONG process…especially when I make all the calls!!! That said, it is worth it to us, as we want EVERY student to understand how much we will be personally invested in their educational journey. Hope that all makes sense. Have a good night!

Ball State Bill, can you say how many willl be in the freshman class this year? Thank you for all you say and do to help us through this process!
