Ball State University...or any university...RA's BUSTING PARTIES

What exactly happens if an ra comes across a party that your at and writes you up...do you get an mip? I am really scared of getting an mip

Don’t party in the dorms then. The good parties are off campus, dorms are for pregaming. At most schools you won’t get a MIP but you will probably get written up by the school, which could entail anything from a slap on the wrist to having to take a special class all the way up to getting kicked out (though I don’t know of any schools that do that for first time offenders.)

bumppppppppppp

I would be more worried about STDs/Mono if I were you.

bump…are campus police real police? and do they do rounds along with the ra’s

You slip out the window or hide underneath the bed when the bacon comes.

On some campuses, if you’re found doing something illegal, the real police are called in. I met someone whom that happened to at Florida State, where the RA caught him drinking underage in a dorm. The local police wrote him up. He was lucky in that he was still young enough to go through Teen Court – which meant he got community service, not a fine or other more severe punishment.

It all depends on the individual school’s policy. At UVM, you get written up, wait a few months for your case to be prioritized and brought up by the judicial system, they sit you down and discuss what happened (get your story basically), and then they decide from there. Most times if it’s drinking you end up writing a paper. If it’s pot, you’re placed on academic probation.

We’ve had real police patrol certain dorms on campus, but 95% of the time it was RA’s doing the rounds.

Here’s a protip: if you’re going to party in the dorms, keep it down. A lot of RA’s like to write people up, but still a large amount of RA’s don’t like to, and if you keep it down and don’t drawn attention to your room then they won’t be obligated to do anything about it. Also, learn what time rounds are, and keep the party quiet during those minutes.

in general, partying on campus is a bad idea.

alright so im still confused with what writing up means…if the campus police write you up…do you have to go to court and do you get an MIP…because i CANNOT have a misdemeanor on my record for the nursing program…i understand if i get one MIP i could get it off my record but not a second one…or when the ra’s or campus police write you up …do u usually jsut get community service and other ****(NOTHING ON UR RECORD)? I will pay any fines possible i can care less…as long as i don’t get any misdemeanor on my record

and isn’t partying off campus even a worse idea…cuz most off campus parties are pretty big and have a bigger chance of getting busted right? and don’t the parties usually end around 2 or 3 meaning you have to leave and walk back to your dorm drunk…that gives u a higher chance of getting caught because police will be patrolling…

There’s an easy solution to your problem. Don’t drink or do drugs. If you’re not willing to accept the consequences of your actions then you should not engage in such activities.

purdue man why even say that. no matter what u say im gonna drink. and i will accept the consequences of my actions if something happens…but its better to have an idea of what goes on so you can avoid such things…so please give me an answer to my question and not an answer like this…thanks

So, let’s get this straight… you want to be a nurse, a job that entails a substantial amount of responsibility. Yet, you want to push the limits with regards to how hard you can party and get away with as much as possible. Such an attitude does not resonate well with me (and probably most others) in what I’d want from someone in the health care sector.

If you absolutely cannot get any alcohol related misdemeanors on your record I gave you the ONLY solution that is guaranteed to work. While you claim that you are ready and willing to accept the consequences, your prior statements betray that notion. While I’m sure you think that college is some amazingly fun time to party 24/7, you must realize that there are consequences to each and every action you take.

The best solution would be to not party on campus or at least if you do, don’t throw wild parties. The cops are less likely to come to a small apartment party than a large party thrown on a dorm where all your dorm mates are liable to complain. I mean, parties are parties, do you really need to be at one that is huge?

I’ve partied for years before turning 21 and I’ve never been caught. If you’re safe and responsible about drinking than you won’t get in trouble.

alright first of all who the hell said i was gonna push my limits and party hard? goin to a party doesn’t mean your getting totally wasted jesus christ…im talking about going to a party and having a couple beers…after a long week of studying its nice to relax that way…so don’t *ing sit here and tell me im goin to college just because its an “amazing party” alright. i work hard for whatever i want. i know its not a joke. so you don’t have to sit here and remind me of the obvious…why tell me something i already know…i know abstaining from alcohol is a guaranteed solution alright…u don’t have to tell me this over and over…just stop posting in my thread because your *ing ■■■■■■■■ and you try to be a total smartass to **** me off

Regarding “real police” at my old college, the campus did employ New York police officers (and made sure to let us know they were real cops). As for RAs, provided you aren’t drawing attention to yourself, i.e. playing ridiculously loud music, screaming and yelling in your room, etc. then they usually leave you alone.
However, it depends on the individual RA. Usually, the RA doesn’t care what goes on provided they don’t get in trouble. But every now and then, you get a power hungry student for an RA who takes their job a little too seriously.

However, the best route is to take it off campus when possible.

thanks for the reasonable answer…but one question…say i do party off campus…what usually happens…do they make you go home after a certain period of time? wouldn’t you have a greater risk of getting caught while walking back to your dorm drunk?

If you aren’t making an idiot out of yourself then nobody is going to bust you for walking back to your dorm drunk. I’ve been at several parties that have gotten busted off campus and what has happened every time is that they tell everyone to leave except the owners of the apartment and then they have to pay some sort of fine (inevitably financed by a party a week later.)

ya i doubt they are gonna ticket everyone at a house party…just too many people…im guessing they just ticket the people that are being dumbasses and the owners of the house

also pretend an ra writes you up for drinking or something…and all you have to do is write n essay n stuff…do they see this when im applying to teh nursing program?
