Ok, now that the dates are posted my son is still in school until the end of June so the only honors session left is July 8th. Will he still have class options if he waits until then to go or should he miss school and go to an earlier session? thanks for any advice.

NJPEEPS, he will still have class options, but he would benefit from attending an earlier session (more choices and more time to switch classes around). And going earlier will give you, the parent, peace of mind. If you son is in a lot of AP classes, perhaps those tests will have been taken by end of May and he may be able to get away for two days. If not, you might want to consider attending a regular session. I’d probably have him speak with his HS teachers and see if missing two days would be critical and go from there.

Same problem here- Graduation isn’t until June 16. So a late Bama Bound, plus if my son is going to do AA or OA, then a very short summer break. Although what I WOULD GIVE to have 7 weeks off this summer- but I know it will seem short to the kids.

My son’s graduation is June 7th…those dates are smack dab in the middle of his final week of school and finals. I already know he won’t be taking some of the finals (AP classes) and the others are dead easy, so I’m going to try to get him to the first session, we shall see when registration opens up.

Another suggestion is to, if possible, coordinate your BB dates with the future RMs and get that awkward first meeting out of the way.

Last summer my S attended the July Honors Bama Bound and got every class he wanted.
He even got one of the 15 seats in UH 155 International War Crimes as they open up seats in these classes throughout the summer. He also got the prof he wanted for Cal 3 which we were worried would be full from the upperclassmen who had already registered. He ended up with no Friday classes and no class before 10:00 am on Monday through Thursday!
His high school graduation wasn’t until June 9th and his HS wouldn’t consider going to college orientation as excused so he waited until July and it all worked out
Another positive of waiting was that all AP scores were in (they are released July 1) so there was no guess work on his scores.

Some schools finish very late, I remember that our HS graduation was June 26, but we managed to get an early Bama Bound date scheduled by checking on finals and AP test dates and coordinating those with the BB dates.

Perhaps that will work for some of you, but if not you should be able to get most of your classes, because they will open seats at each Bama Bound session. The classes that are harder to get are the upper levels because upperclassmen will have already registered and some of those classes will already be closed.

Honors College student freshmen will be registering before the other freshmen (that is a huge perk). If you can go to an Honors Bama Bound, I would. It is also a good time to meet other students in the Honors College. Either way, it will all work out.

My D is also in school until June 10 making the July date the only one available for her.

^ Honors students do not have to attend an honors session. They can attend any session.

So if D can’t make the early honors BB would it be better for her to do the earlier non honors BB or wait till July?

Last year we were in the same boat as many of you. My son had to attend the last Honors session of BB. It was NO PROBLEM. He left with a schedule he was happy with, and after getting back home he was able to tweak it a bit to make it even better. His three roommates did attend an earlier BB session together, and I know he wished he had been able to attend with them…I would have llilke to have met their parents, too… By the way, he also attended AA, so that made for two trips to UA in a rather short time period, but we were all so excited we could not have cared less. It all works out in the long run.

My D didn’t graduate until early June last year, but she attended the Bama Bound that was right after Memorial Day. I asked her guidance counselor about it, and he said that a college orientation trumped anything that was going on at the high school at the end of senior year other than AP exams. It didn’t come to that, but D’s high school would have allowed her to take exams on a different date in order to accommodate Bama Bound. I was surprised and glad I asked.

what is the schedule? can anyone remember=I recall friends saying nothing much on
2nd day??

Second day ends earlier (IIRC, between noon and 2:00, closer to noon?) Second day is registration.

Here is a link to the schedule:

If we go to the latest orientation session, does that mean we will be stuck with whatever classes are available even as honors students?

My son’s graduation is May 31st and with family plans the first 3 sessions are out. It will have to be July for him.
