Noticing on the calendar there are a lot of film festivals going on around Bama.

Many are stated to be occurring at the Bama Theater.

Where is the Bama Theater?

Is that located on or off campus?

If it is off campus, is it on the Crimson Ride route?

In case anyone is interested, there is an upcoming Jewish Film Festival, where they’ll be showing the Coen Brothers The Serious Man, and I noticed today there is a festival dealing with Women in Film.

Bama Theatre is located in Downtown…so it’s a bit further than the Crimson Ride.

Alabama’s Dept of Theatre and Dance put on performances throughout the year.

Here’s their Facebook group <a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook;

They produce 12 theatre & dance productions each academic year, and various student & faculty-led projects as well.

The Bama Theater is downtown, but the distance is definitely walkable (about 1 mile from Publix) and pretty well-lit at night.

Thanks, sea, good to know. Maybe son will walk with a group of friends to these events. I know the buses are on strike right now, but what about the late night service? Does that reach that far?

I don’t know many people who walk downtown. Really, though, there’s a good chance your son will become friends with somebody who has their car with them. Riverside and Lakeside lots are full of cars, so somebody’s bringing them.

*but what about the late night service? Does that reach that far? *

The Crimson Ride night service doesn’t extend farther than the day service. I don’t know will change now that Downtown has been refurbished. It would seem like something the school should include - at least on some nights - like Thursday thru Sunday. One of my kids is in a leadership group that meets with Dr. Witt and Dr. Bonner to make recommendations. Perhaps that would be a recommendation to make.

Feeno is right. Some of your son’s friends will have cars on campus. If he’s going somewhere with other people (like to the movies), chances are that one will have a car.

They tried an Entertainment Route not too long ago, which went downtown, but it didn’t pan out.

I agree, it’s pretty easy to find someone with a car. I’m really hoping for a semi-regular bus to Target/Wal-Mart rather than a bus to downtown. Maybe a non-gameday Saturday service would work out.
