Band and MIT.

OK so this is my 3rd year in marching band and i'm sick of this crap. too much sun, too much work, not enough TIME!!!!(for IB junk).

So basically i was wondering if i quit band at the end of the year would that somehow decrease my chance getting accepted into MIT? I mean im already an officer, i'm already 1st chair highest band, i've done basically everything their is too do. the only reason i would stay another year of suffering would be for it to look good on my app. now i know mit is a math/science school so some of you may be going "pff Mit doesnt care about band" but im just a bit cautious.

wat do you think?

don't drop it if you like it-but obviously you don't. MIT won't care, especially if it is currently hindering your academic performance.

lol

.

thx niceilike

any other opinions? :)

Right Conversation:
"Why are you quitting band?"
"I've accomplished a lot and am ready to move on."

WRONG conversation:
"why are you still in band/taking that many APs/in that class/trying to join another club/fill in ANYTHING here?"
"so it will look good on my college application."

I quit band after two years because I didn't need anymore PE credit. Your reason totally pwns mine in the face, and I still got in, so... yeah, I see no problem. :)

Dude, Marching Band is not that tough lol, you just need to have some perseverance.

Don't you need the fine arts for IB?

Sry, should have clarified in my post, but yes, I am in marching band as well and during band camp, we also marched 12 hour days in 90 degrees weather, so believe me, I can say it's not tough if I want to. As I said earlier, you just need a strong mindset and perseverance.
