Hey there, everyone. It’s great to see so many people excited about coming to UCSD.

I want to know if anyone out there did Marching Band in high school, or is interested in starting next year. UCSD does not have a Marching Band now, but I represent a dedicated group that is starting one next year. You can be part of the founding class, and start a legacy that will last long after you graduate.

Also, for those of you not interested in marching, there is a Pep Band, (ucsdpepband.com) that is a fun, loose organization, where you get to play loudly.

I can pick up clarinet again (haven't touched it in a few years), since I did play with a personal teacher for 7 years. Or, I can play a snare drum if need be.

That's why we're starting the band. I'm not surprised that drumline people are going to USC or UCLA. UCSD doesn't have a drumline, and if it's a big part of their lives, they should pursue it. We are going to establish a band that will grow into a formidable group, so I'm just looking for interest. (In both wind instruments and drums.)

Haha. Well, I'm up to do either woodwinds or percussions--whatever you need more of is fine with me and I'm good enough to play both proficiently.

i did trumpet back in elementary advanced band, but i didn't do anything in high school or junior high school involving band. i have been playing piano for a while though.

anyways, bottom line is, i am very interest in joining! if you guys need a trumpet player or whatever instrument for marching band, let me know!

This is great! We're going to need a lot of first-year support, as we don't have a lot of older student support. Any ideas for some songs to perform? We're thinking more modern songs, that people will recognize.
