Band vs. Sociology?

Well, I hate band class with a passion. The class itself is too stressful and the teacher pushes his students too much. However, I do like the EC's that come with band class, such as: jazz band, pep band, KV band, and playing at concerts. It is in my mind, however, that I can convince him to allow me to participate in those EC's even if I were not in band class because I am a trombonist and those are scarce in our school's music program. But then again, I won't be able to participate as greatly in those EC's because I am not part of the band class.

However, I also am considering taking sociology instead of band class. I cannot take both because the two classes occupy the same slot. The subject fascinates me, and I think that perhaps my future job may incorporate aspects of this subject. But; this also requires for me to take many tests (I am already very busy with the drama program which typically takes up 6-10 hours a week -_-) and it may induce more stress than band class.

As you can see, there are disadvantages and advantages to taking either classes. I am now just wondering if colleges prefer either one? A more academic class such as sociology, or a more artsy thing like band class? I am going to be a junior; I have already taken band class for 2 years now.

Thanks. =)

Sociology so totally rocks the hell out of band.
The End.

sociology. even though you like band, you said you were already heavily involved with the drama program, so the stress with band would just add to it. if you're gonna use sociology later, go ahead and take it.

I know exactly how you feel because as a drama person it takes up much of your time but you have to realize that you have to do what interests you not what will get you better EC's. I say do the sociology because it's something you want to learn about more and that you are interested in.

I'm thinking that if you hate the class, but like all the stuff that comes with it (only if you actually like them, and not want more EC's), then take the Sociology class, and then just participate in the concerts and Jazz Band and stuff.

If you don't like Band, get out. If you don't want to be there, you'll resent it, and others will resent you being there.

Take sociology. It's a really interesting subject.

BANDBANDBAND!!!

.....I might be a little biased.....
