Anyone here a member of your school's band? Does band add a lot to your schedule?
I'll start:
1st chair trumpet (no idea how, cause I'm really bad, lol)
Not yet, but this is my first year. Practice takes like ~20-30 minutes a day at the moment.

I play the tuba and I live in an area where marching band isn’t required if you do band (I still have to take PE though since 4 years of it is required by the state for graduation) so it doesn’t take up much of my time. It’s just a class period for me and I rarely practice since my music is usually pretty easy.

Yes! Fellow Bandos!

I play mallet percussion and HECK YES it adds to my schedule.
Outdoor Marching Band is required unless you have play a sport or have a physical disability that absolutely prohibits your participation. Outdoor adds up to 20-30 hrs a week, depending on the location of the competitions and football games we do.
Indoor Percussion (optional competitive percussion group of which I am a part) takes about 12-20 hours a week, including a few school days and a whole weekend at a finals competition.
I’m also in orchestra, so that’s two class periods, no study hall, gym, and two lessons a week…plus the 20 or so hours a week. So yeah. It takes a while.

I’m in the Advanced Band/Wind ensemble! For some ECs, I do Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, which just started last week, and Pit Orchestra should be starting up soon. And I also did Marching Band this year.

I did band my first three years of high school but finally left the cult after junior year lol.

I was the world’s worst band student, lmao. I would ride the bus the days we had before school rehearsals so I didn’t have to go, I went to softball practice when the two conflicted, I would get help with calc during class, I never practiced, and I couldn’t keep my feet in time in marching band to save my life.

When I did decide to actually do band stuff, it was like an hour per week (not includingg class time or concerts/competitions)
