The Chase Freedom Student Credit Card is another one I recommend looking into. Lots of great benefits and easy to apply.

Yeah, your right, most things are paid by cards or electronic services.
However, we still use ATMs and checks occasionally, as in fact does a large fraction of the population. I’m quite certain that there are demographic differences.

No, they didn’t come to the school. That would have been nice!
The banks, about three of them, were located near the school (in our case, about two blocks from the school, in between grocery stores and businesses).
They had large banners which read “Open a free College Checking account!” or, “Seniors, get ready for College/Work with our FREE Checking and Savings accounts!”
They were all competitive, but they were fair to each other. We noticed that the first bank we went to openly told us that their bank didn’t have branches outside of the state and that we should walk over to the National Bank, across the street, that did have branches in NY if our daughter was going to school in NY.
