Bank Of America Student Leaders 2012

Hello Everyone,

I thought it was about time to make a thread for those interested in the BOA Student Leader Program for the summer of 2012. I'm really interested to see who is applying, and being able to share information with everyone as the deadline approaches.

Based upon last year, how are applicants usually chosen? What (if any) significant similarities in selected BOA Leaders applications were there?

Do you have any tips for the application, type of Leader selected, LOR, ect?

,looking forward to your responses.

The applicants are chosen by their local district. About 5 are selected in each district.

I was selected but did not attend so I cannot give you a comparison of others who were selected. I would suggest reading last years thread. I think some of the people selected gave some of their details toward the end.

I had 200 hours of community service but I feel like essays showed a strong passion for volunteering.

I doubt they look at your hours except to see what you are involved in and to make sure you are dedicated. I would focus on your essays and make sure you show some passion in them.

Hello I was one of the NYC Student Leader for 2011.

To answer one of the question Bank of America (or commonly referred to as BoA) tries to be diverse and tends to lean towards females. In the NYC market last year there was 2 males (Including me) with one Bulgarian (male), two of Asian decent (both female). One that was mixed Greek and Ecuadorian (female) and then one African American.

From the time I spent at the Summit where I got to see every student leader, I observed a large amount of the people happen to be girls. Some markets for example the San Antonio market, had five girls. So for us guys I wish you best of luck.

The only advice I can give about being accepted is put your heart and soul into the essay. I recommend for you to stop and really think about all the times you need to use your leadership skills. I know that the NYC market does not do interviews, but I have heard that some other markets do.

I wish everyone the best of luck, I will be posting on this thread every time I get a chance. If anyone wants to ask me question directly you may ask me for my email, I would be very happy to help anyone out.

Thanks for sharing!
I want to know about the selection process.
Is there is any written test and series of interviews.

When will applications for 2012 be available?

@debategeek, they open TODAY! OCT 1! But, the website doesn’t allow applications for 2012 yet… so… huh.

There’s almost NO info given though! I really want to know what we do, and when it starts (I have another internship that might conflict).

Here’s last year’s thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/534661-bank-america-student-leaders.html</a></p>

IN LIEU of 43 pages, here’s the basic things-
In 2009 it was 35hrs/week, 8 weeks, x$10/hr = $2800 for your pay.
About 100 kids apply per region (more for NYC for example), and only 5 make it per district. [3600 for 230 positions nationwide]

Everyone complained intensely about not receiving notifications- it opens in October, and decisions are sent in May. O.O

So, I live in central Iowa. Does this mean that I am not eligible seeing as I don’t live in one of their districts?

^iowanerd
Sadly, you won’t be eligible then. Volunteer jobs are generally given near the areas they list.

I still can’t find the 2012 application; have you guys any info on the whereabouts of this app?
I hope BofA didn’t cut this part of its company b/c of its recent downfall.

^ they changed the form, so instead of saying ‘Applications open Oct 1’, it now says Fall 2011.

The link is here: [Bank of America | Corporate Philanthropy | Student Leaders](<a href=“Bank of America resources: grants, sponsorships & ESG reports”>Bank of America resources: grants, sponsorships & ESG reports)

So, we just click on the “Apply today to…” and start the application?
Becuase it still says “… an application for the 2011 program”. I didn’t see any fall 2011 anywhere.
And also at the end of the application, it says:
» Thank you for your interest in the Student Leaders Program. The application period for the 2011 program has passed. We will begin accepting applications for the 2012 in Fall, 2011. «

Are you sure that this is the correct one for 2012?

Yup, exact same thing. They update the form once registration opens, which WAS Oct 1, but is now, as it states, “Fall 2011”.

Thus, nobody can register for next summer until this “Fall 2011” date arrives. The form has not been updated. Sorry if that was confusing!

Thanks for clearing that up! Hopefully applications will be up soon
Good luck everyone!

Hey guys, I’m applying in the San Francisco region whenever the application is actually available. I’m so excited! I wanted to do it last year, but I was only a sophomore. What regions are you guys applying in?

Seattle here. California and New York were pretty competitive last year.

Question Is the Student leader program only for currently enrolled junior/senior…? not for sophomores?

^ yup, only juniors or seniors allowed to apply.

posting to subscribe

when are apps due

I was a 2011 student leader, and the whole summer was such an amazing experience! I strongly encourage everyone to apply! Feel free to ask me if you have questions.
Although there were 6600 applicants last year nationwide, each market is different, so the competition varies. Also, if you got in, you should find out in mid-April rather than May.

HEY EVERYONE!
It is now OPENNNNN~
