Hey I’m from the Houston market too and got a interview at the beginning of March.
Does anyone know how many people they interviewed?
I also applied to NSLI-Y, so i hope the decisions for BOA come out sooner!
BOA is really my first choice because I would love to stay in Houston

Im in the San Antonio market and I am flipping out!!! @_@
Does anyone know when or if people already got called for interviews???
Last year I heard that people were notified by March 23 or 24

@lolazzz123

The people that contacted you, was the area code number from your area?
or was it from somewhere else?

East Bay market? Any idea when notifications will be sent out?

ik for atl, they tell you whether or not you progressed to the next round by the end of march.

I received notice today that I was accepted for the Washington, DC market! I’m so excited!!

westfield95 - congrats. Did you have an interview ? Did they call you or was it email .

westfield95 - congrats! I received the news that I have been accepted into the Washington, DC market today too. Hope we see each other at the orientation!

yetanotherid - I dont think so, she didnt say anything abt an interview

Hey, I got in for i tihnk the DC market. Thier sending tickets for the DC nationals game (thats where the orientation is at)

My dilemma is that I already got into the state department National Security Language Initiative for youth, and im trying to decide which one is better to do? NSLIY is an all expenses paid scholarship to Russia. Its alumni network is amazing, and id be learning Russian and volunteering adn seeing all the sights if i did NSLIY

bank of america is more of what im going to do in the future (business), pays (isnt it 5000$?), and its uber prestigous

Which one should i take? Which one do you guys think I should take? Which one is more competitive/prestigous? Which one do you think would be the best experiance? Im just afraid of being bored at Bank of america

HOLY ****
I applied for both programs, and I got into both programs. Right now im deciding whether I want to do NSLIY or bank of america. Im so torn haha

Never heard of NSLIY ( but that doesn’t mean anything). Seems like a good program. If it was up to me I would do NSLIY since it seems to be an unique opportunity. You can learn a lot personally traveling abroad. BOA maybe prestigious but NSLIY may make you standout in a crowd of competitive applicants. You need to decide though. I vote for NSLIY Keep us posted and good luck.

I mean theres this other short study abroad scholarship that I think/hope im going to get for Korea, which is two weeks.

Thats what I initially thought (NSLIY is really competitive as well. Its acceptance rate is about 15%) but now im starting to think that I should do bank of america.
Can anyone tell me how thier Bank of America experiance was? Im just worried bank of America will be boring (the internship part).

Keely - Just realized you are of Indian descent. Russians love Indian folks. Lots of BOA alumni on the board, just search and you will find answers to BOA internship experience. Everyone says the DC visit was awesome but local internship experience may vary I think

How was the general internship experiance? Did you get to hang out with kids your own age? Was it fun? Was it helpful?

@keely
People mean well, but be careful.of the advice you are given, to people in your market it would be more beneficial if u went to the russian program so that they can take ur spot. Just a word of advice.

As someone not in your market i say go to BoA since it is paid lol.

haha yeah thats the feeling i got when I told people that I got accepted into both of these programs. I thought i was just being paranoid. However, its the same situation with NSLIY. I feel like people are saying for me not to go so they can take my spot hah
I gotta say, that im taking Bank of America. Im just really worried about whether or not ill have fun.

@Keely - FYI. I am not from the DC market and I have nothing to gain whichever way you go. Someone in the Princeton thread posted NSLIY as very competitive. good luck

@yetanotherid

they actually called me, which was pretty cool, and I didn’t have to go through any interviews, which was really nice.

Congrats westfield95. Looks like DC market is the only one known so far.

Apprently, im going to be an intern at the YMCA in DC. Anyone know what you get to do there?
