So I'm opening a bank account and I'm just wondering what bank to go with :]

My D uses Bank of America - there’s one in our hometown and I also believe there’s an ATM on campus.

i recommend bank of america, there’s an atm for it in the student center and there [used to] be a branch in town, but i believe there are other branches that are a short drive away as well.

Most people use Bank of America. It’s true that they closed the closest branch to campus, but there is an ATM on campus for most of your banking needs. There is also a Citizens and a Citibank close to campus. In terms of ATM availability and moving between states, I think BoA still offers the best options.

Thaaaaanks!!

Hey, I don’t know where you’re coming from, but I live in rural Maine. Here we only have smaller chain banks but often, if you go with those kinds, you don’t get service charges while using other ATMs (like the Bank of America one on campus in the Lulu).

The orientation package we received a few weeks ago had info on Sovereign Bank. Anyone know whether there is a convenient ATM on campus?

There isn’t a Sovereign Bank on campus, but if you get the student banking package ATM withdrawal fees are refunded to your account at the end of the month. There is also a Sovereign ATM at the “far” CVS by the grocery store. I’m happy with them… there seem to be much fewer fees than BOA. My only complaint is that the branch is about a mile from campus.

Thanks for the info college_ruled!!
