Banking in Boston

I'll be a freshman at Harvard in the fall and I was wondering what the best bank in the area. I currently live in Alaska so I'm pretty sure that I'm going to have to switch to a new bank--what's available in Boston/Cambridge? What do most other students use?

There are quite a few Bank of Americas around.

Yeah, I heard Bank of America is a convenient choice. They have a student account with no monthly fees, I believe.

I am perfectly happy with my [Harvard Union Credit Union](http://www.huecu.org/checking-accounts/student-banking/</a>) account. Check it out.

Most people either have HUECU or Bank of America. The former is convenient if you have a job on the college’s payroll since the money you earn is available immediately. Apart from that, Bank of America is definitely more convenient, especially when you need an ATM and none are around during the holidays, summers, and post-graduation.

If you’re with HUECU, you can still withdraw from ATMs outside the SUM network for a fee, right?

Sorry, yeah, you can withdraw but with a fee.
