University Federal Credit Union is well known and on the Drag next to the Co-op, but so are other banks. I used them for my student loans until it all went Federal and I liked them, and several friends work there. My personal account is with Capital One but they don’t have any branches near campus that I’m aware of.

Bank of America has several ATMs around campus. I know of the ones at PCL, Jester, and RLM. There may be others. I don’t know of a nearby BoA branch. Chase has a branch at 21st and Guadalupe but I don’t know of any ATMs on campus.

my d has a wells fargo account. There is a branch on Guadaloupe near the coop

my d has a wells fargo account. There is a branch on Guadaloupe near the coop. Not any atm’s for them on campus. You can get money out of any ATM for any bank. There is usually a 2-3 dollar charge.

It you set up an account at the Credit Union during orientation, they will deposit $20.14 in it (because you are in the UT Class of 2014). The Credit Union is pretty convenient. Cash machines all over area, including on campus.

Thanks! The Credit Union is pretty swift with the 2014.

I used UFCU and still have an account with them. The only issue that I faced was that they don’t have branches outside of Austin and I get charged a lot of the time when I use other ATM’s.

Apart from that, its a very easygoing place to do business with. I don’t think I’ve ever walked in to a branch and spent more than 5 minutes for anything other than student loans (which will get sorted very quickly as well). The staff is very helpful and flexible too. They’ve waved charges for me on more than one occasion and can have debit cards made for you immediately if you have anything lost or stolen.

I use BBVA Compass. If I were you I would look for a local bank in your area that has unlimited free ATM transactions. You only need the ATM’s here on campus. But my bank has a location on 38th street and lamar or on 6th street.
Besides that, Bank of America has the most ATM’s on campus, though I have seen both Chase and Citi bank’s atm near campus.

And Wells fargo has an atm below the goodall wooten dorm.

I heard a rumor that the university may be closing the credit union in the near future.

UT does NOT own or run UFCU. Like most credit unions, it is owned by its members. It is in no danger of closing.

Although my husband works at a bank, our kids bank at UFCU.

@ BK- Even though UFCU only has branches in the Austin area and Galveston, members can bank at CUs in other cities (no charge) across the country: https://www.ufcu.org/about/contact/locations/shared.php
