In the summer before my junior year, I'm currently a senior, my family filed for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. This is the type that doesn't "wipe" the slate clean. Instead it requires a series of monthly payments over the course of 5 years. Unfortunately, this doesn't show up on my FAFSA stuff because it's just seen as a "monthly expense". I would love to go out of state for school but I doubt my family can afford it. Does anyone know any scholarships for bankruptcy or does anyone who has been through this have any suggestions? Thank you!

I doubt that there are any scholarships specifically for students whose parents have declared bankruptcy.

What are your stats? Your best bet is to find schools that will give you large scholarships for your stats (GPA and test scores).

Have you asked your parents how much they can contribute each year? If they can’t contribute ANYTHING or a very small amount, it will be difficult since that would require a free ride…and those are more rare, unless you’re a National Merit Finalist. Are you?
