Hello: What are the most convenient banks and do they have ATMs on campus. This is my third post and so far I have been yelled at and accussed of having a homesick child, so just an answer would be so appreciated.
What a forum :) I thought Cornell was suppose to be a great community...

Check here: Cornell University Local Banking Services

This list the banks, their branch hours, and ATM locations on and off campus. Should be very helpful. I went with M&T. :)

my s started with one bank at Cornell that actually had a branch on campus, but found that it was actually better to have Bank of America - which probably has a branch in your home town...then you could put money in if your child needed you to ...there is an BofA ATM on campus but the actual branch is in College town...son found that since he was in NYC one summer for an internship that Bank of America worked best so that is what he set up for his sister, a rising sophomore

i chose M&T because there are several branches in my hometown

this is from the Class of 2012 Website:

"Although Ithaca isn't a big city, you still have quite a few options when it comes to banking. As a general rule, anything "on campus" is walkable; anything in collegetown is either a 15-20min walk or you can take the TCAT; East Hill Plaza, The Commons, downtown, and Pyramid Mall are all TCAT or drive required -- although for the adventurous, you can get anywhere in about an hour walk each way.

There are several banks in the Cornell and Ithaca area.

* M&T Bank- The most popular student choice for banking, there are offices in Willard Straight Hall on campus, collegetown, and several around Ithaca. There are M&T ATMs everywhere there is an office, plus places like the Pyramid Mall. M&T is actually a large (top 50) bank in assests (30 bil or so)
* Cornell FingerLakes Credit Union (CFCU) - A community bank with a branch in the Cornell Store and ATMs on campus
* Tompkins Trust - Ithaca is in Tompkins County, NY, and Tompkins Trust is the local regional bank. Like CFCU, there is a branch and ATM in the Cornell store as well as around Ithaca.
* HSBC - A global bank (good for international students) with an ATM in WSH and an office across from the Pyramid Mall.
* Bank of America - Although Bank of America is a huge bank, their presence in Ithaca isn't. There is an ATM in Collegetown and a branch in The Commons, but with no branch/atm on campus, you might have to put a little extra effort into your banking."

I use M&T since there just happens to be a branch in my hometown.

<<<Works at CFCU.

Muahahahaha.

Keep your current bank account wherever your parents can deposit, open up an account wherever on campus and deposit those checks from bank one onto the campus bank.

There you go noobies.

Thank you so much. I think then he will set up with M&T.
Thank you again for your information.
My son has been there a couple times this summer and I kept asking him about the ATMs-you can imagine the look and response :)
I really do not think that I am going to have a tongue by August 22 as I have been biting it soooo much!
