Hey guys, I'm looking into getting a new checking account for college. What are the major banks around campus that are good for students? Thanks

pnc bank
td bank (formerly commerce)

that’s about it, really.

How far is BoA? Should I switch from BoA to TD?

there are some Bank of America locations in center city, but I certainly wouldn’t want to go that far for an ATM.

Should I just get a bank account with Student Federal Credit Union? It seems that they have the most free ATM’s in the area. Does that make the most sense, if I just want free ATM’s? Plus I can link it to my PennCard.

Do not use SFCU. Ever. Ever. Ever.

If you’re getting a new account, use PNC Bank. They have the most atms by far, and you can link their card with your Penncard.

Can you withdraw money from the ATM’s on campus with PNC? Why is SFCU so bad lol?

yes use pnc; just about all the atms in campus buildings are pnc atms

I second PNC. Their ATMs are all over campus and vicinity. Make sure you tell them it’s a student account to avoid some fees.

what is PNC??

I have a chase account and I know there is a chase/wamu bank on market street and 17th (?)

I know you just have to take the septa to 15th street and market right??

I use Commerce Bank but would it be worth it to switch to PNC?

PNC is most convenient on campus. I have an account with BofA to pay bills and stuff, but I just transfer money into my PNC account if I need cash.

pnc is more convenient, yeah

i stopped using my commerce account and made pnc my primary

You can even open your PNC account online before you get to campus. Then during orientation week you can link your ID card to your PNC account.

theres a citibank atm at 711

can someone explain exactly what pnc is??

pnc is the name of a bank

https://www.pnc.com/webapp/unsec/Homepage.do?siteArea=/PNC/Home/Personal

ahhh; i thought it was like something special

this is a dumb question, but what should I do with my other regular account and how exactly do you transfer money between accounts?? (just through internet??)

you could keep your old account

or you could do electronic transfer

or write yourself a check

If I am a National City customer, do I get to use PNC atms for free now that PNC bought National City?
