Banks

Which bank account is better to be used in USC, I'm an international student, so i have no idea. Is citibank ok?

Here are the banks close to USC- (I don’t use Citibank but I’m sure they are OK.)
[Banking // SCampus](http://web-app.usc.edu/scampus/banking/)

But my son uses USC Credit Union which is ON campus-

The convenience of USC Credit Union is that they have ATMs all over campus so you won’t be charged a fee for ATM withdrawal at those locations. They give free accounts to students. I make transfers to his account via fax and we have had no problems.

my s also uses USC Credit Union. You can sign up with them during International Orientation week. Last year they had a place set up at the Lyons Center (where you can pay tuition also) for people to sign up. It was a bit of a wait.
Their debit card can be used like a Mastercard.

cc411, why isn’t USC credit union listed in the SCampus?

Yeah, I’d say the 2 most popular banks to use at SC are the USC Credit Union (main office located right across from the Lyons Center, above Cafe 84) and Bank of America (bank located in the UV across and ATMs located in the Lot).

bmom - the credit union is listed under “Student Services” [USC Credit Union // SCampus](http://web-app.usc.edu/scampus/usc-credit-union/) It really SHOULD show up under banking as well!

D also uses the USC credit union. No problems, very convenient.

On the USC Credit Union page-
"As the only financial institution headquartered on campus, the USC Credit Union offers the same services as a bank. "

I guess they don’t list it on the bank page because they legally/literally are not a bank. But very confusing for students. I bet they lose business by not being on that page.

I have a joint account with each of my kids at USC Credit Union because it’s on campus; they used to give good interest rates on savings accounts there, but now rates are low nearly everywhere… S also has an acount at Bank of America but he doesn’t like or use it nearly as much. We opened it at his aunt’s request.

is there a wells fargo atm on campus anywhere?

Here are the nearby Wells branches (from cc411’s link in post #2):

Thanks for the info on the USC Credit Union. It was so easy to log on and sign up online as a newly enrolled student. We were wanting easy access ATMs, and this looks like it will be perfect! Now my D doesn’t have to deal with it during orientation or freshman welcome week.

I would have suggested Bank of America since they have ATMs on/close to campus, and also have ATMs and banking centers everywhere else, whereas you will be charged a fee if you try to withdrawal money from anywhere but the campus using your USC credit union card.

Thanks grey_syntactics…She also has an acct at Wells Fargo, but will be on campus without a car this year. Do you know if Well’s Fargo has any on-campus atms?

The free Cardinal Checking through the USC Credit Union provides surcharge-free ATM access to 28,000 ATMs:

I’ve never had a problem with the USC Credit Union, I strongly recommend it.
