Does anyone know if there is a minimum GPA that must be met in your senior year of high school to keep a Banneker/Key Scholarship? For example, will getting a C in a class be enough for a full scholarship to be rescinded? I've read in another post that as long as you're not failing classes, your scholarship should be fine, but can anyone confirm this?

Thanks to anyone who can provide more information!

First off, fix that grade - now - don’t let it slide due to senioritis.

Are you talking about a single semester or final grade? How low a C? Are you talking 78 or 72? That could make a difference also. I think if it’s a single semester but your final grade is still an B or A-, it would not be an issue…most transcripts only show final grades, not semester grades (check with your guidance counselor to confirm that).

However, if the final grade could be a C, that would be worrisome. Personally, I would not trust what you have seen online in general about scholarships not being rescinded because those are referring to scholarships that are not full tuition. B/K may have it’s own rules. It’s not worth taking a chance like that.

Talk to UMD now about this possibility. If it turns out that you get a C they’re going to find out about it anyway. When they find out it will probably be mid-July or later and you’ll be without a scholarship and other college options. Best to know now what consequences the C will or will not bring should it occur.
