<p>This petition is to ban plastic bags in Santa Monica. Right now, plastic bags kill marine life through digestion of the bags, or suffocation by them. <p>But then we’ll start using even MORE paper bags, which will lead to greater deforestation and feed the usage of it. Thus, we inhibit our chances for curing cancer through the loss of biodiversity in rain forests. The homes of animals are being destroyed, not to mention animals themselves are dying off. This also affects our overall global climate by increasing carbon emissions. </p>
