Bard Acceptances Class of 2025

Can a thread be started for Bard College acceptances?

I’d be into it.

S21 was accepted, one of 4 EA acceptances. Bard’s his current top choice. I do wish there was more chatter about Bard, here. Thanks for starting the thread. Maybe all the Bardians are going to now come out of the woodwork.

My daughter was accepted and very excited about it! Got some merit so that was good too.

Congrats! Is your D going to keep applying or is Bard “it”?

She’s applied to eleven others and so far 5 for 5, Bard being one. She really likes it but it’s not in her top 3 and was hoping the merit to be more forthcoming.

My D was accepted EA, and Merit award was excellent. Seriously considering, but never had the chance to visit. She wants to major in Theatre and Performance and trying to find out as much as we can.

@skymomla S21 just told us Bard’s the one. SO we’re going to make it official soon. We haven’t visited either but did a lot of the virtual admissions programming. I’m also familiar with the area, so that helps, too. The student population, pedagogy, and art-filled campus are big draws for S21. From what I gather, it’s a great school for the performing arts. Sarah Lawrence College, too, comes to mind. Good luck to you both. And congrats on the EA accept.

MY DD was accepted and is very excited (dance/english major). We haven’t had a chance to visit yet (we are on the west coast). We have lots of questions and hope that it’s everything thing she thinks it is! She got a nice merit offer, but it’s still “over budget” so it has to add up. Is there an online group for admitted students?

@sfmomma Hey. Congrats to your family. I believe there is a FB group for admitted students that they can access now. Have her check the portal. I also think soon someone will create an Instagram page, I found the Class of 2024 one, and it was illuminating on the type of student who is into the school. Check it out. We’re very excited.

My daughter was accepted EA, with good merit and we qualify for need-based aid so all in all it’s a very good option. We live a couple hours away and haven’t been able to visit or tour but have a friend who is a senior there. She could stop waiting for other decisions right now and be perfectly happy, I’m sure, but has had another EA acceptance and about ten more RD to wait for. She cast a pretty wide net due to not touring this past spring and summer.

@hardymum an exciting Spring ahead for y’all. 10 more decisions! Best of luck to your daughter. Enjoy the ride.

Does anyone know when they release RD decisions? Wish mine had applied EA but decided to apply a bit late in the game. Thanks for any info.

I don’t know for sure, but Accepted Student’s Day is 4/10 (its virtual). So before then! My guess is late march. Exciting times.

DH took DS to admitted students Day 5 years ago, when we could do this live. Ds liked the school but less than a few others. Dh, otoh, wanted to enroll on the spot. I was lucky he didn’t make DS drive home alone!

My DD is so excited about Bard (EA), but I’d really like her to visit in person before committing, even if it’s just a drive-through. I think she can get a good sense of the culture and profs virtually, but she’s never seen that part of the country. Anyone else in the same boat? The quarantine rules are making this a tough decision.

My daughter applied RD so we do not know yet whether she has been accepted, but … yes! I am still holding out hope for a visit. Judging by your user name, we are much closer here in NC - if NY’s rules change we plan to drive up and take a look around.

Even on Google Street View you can only really “drive” up and down the main road. I will say that from Google Street View, which is definitely not a showcase of the prime views, the campus still looks just as gorgeous as their virtual tours make it look.

@sfmomma I know first hand that Bard will not approve an in-person visit (I’ve asked). However, if you do make a trip east, I’m sure you can drive around campus w/o without putting anyone at risk. That’s what we did. Stayed in the car, got the lay of the land.

My DD is applying RD. We live about an hour away and visited campus over winter break. At that time, we were able to drive down both the main public road and some of the college roads, but it looked like they might close the campus roads to the public when classes are in session (there were barricades by the side of the road). We stayed in the car except at Montgomery Place, which was open at that time.

Even if you can’t access the college roads, I think enough of the campus is visible from the main road to give your DC a sense of what it’s like (together with the virtual tours). We also drove to Red Hook and around the general area, just to get a better sense. (It’s beautiful, but also quite rural/isolated as compared to some of her other options.)

Thanks! I think we may do just that!

HI! My son got into Bard EA. He also received a generous package. It is one of his top choices. We plan on driving around the main roads over the next few weeks (we live about 2 hours away). My son is interested in the film/digital art and theatre program. He spoke to both directors of the program and found out the theatre program is more performance than technical. The department heads are wonderful to obtain additional information. He has done it for most of the small schools he has applied to. Now he knows if he goes to Bard it will be for Film and maybe creative writing and not theatre. Good Luck to everyone.
