For the longest time (through mid-December at least) the Bard website said something like "auditions will be held in late Feb/early March". Just yesterday, we checked again and it now lists specific dates. The problem is that there is only ONE date for woodwinds and it happens to be the same date we already confirmed with Oberlin.

With both schools offering strong academic double degree programs, my D is very interested in BOTH and would hate to have to give up one audition. Any suggestions?

My S faced a similar dilemma last year. We called both schools and they were wonderful in accommodating him. If I were you, I’d try Bard, first. Good luck!

I would encourage flute1298 to contact Oberlin and try to switch the original date, since Oberlin offers multiple audition weekends, but Bard only offers one. Seems to me there’s more wiggle room in the Oberlin schedule. I know that the conservatories all understand the scheduling conflicts and try their best to accommodate - if they can.

We had that problem last year when Juilliard and MSM gave my daughter identical dates AND times. What are the chances? We contacted both schools and MSM was able to reschedule. It meant an extra night in an NYC hotel room, and two 9 AM auditions, but at least it all worked out.

I agree that it is more likely that Oberlin could reschedule. The woodwinds audition date at Bard is potentially the only date that all their woodwind faculty will be around. Many of the Bard music faculty commute. So even though Bard may want accommodate a rescheduling, it is less likely to be possible.
