Congrats to you all who got letters today! We are further away and still waiting…can you guys post a bit about your stats…

@momster: My credentials go as follows:

SAT: 2000 (1330 Math and Verbal)
SAT IIs: Math II – 560, US History --700
Unweighted GPA: 3.7’ish

I’ve taken multiple ‘honors’ courses throughout my HS career, and have taken 4 APs (US History, Government, English Lit, Statistics).

I did get a ‘C’ in 8th grade geometry second-semester, and I also struggled (and earned 3 ‘Cs’) during my second-semester of my sophomore year, when my school at that time implemented a 4x4 schedule (A.K.A. the schedule from hell). Prior to my junior year I transferred to a new school and have yet to earn anything but an ‘A’ since that move. It should also be noted that when I moved to my new school, my workload increased, and I introduced APs into my schedule, something I had yet to do.

My extracurriculars go as follows:

JV Soccer during 9th grade.
Cross-Country during 11th grade.
Endurance Team (varsity cycling team) during 11th and 12th grade.
Varsity Soccer during 12th grade.
I acted as President Obama during our school’s mock-presidential debate on election day of the 2012 election.
Did service work during 11th grade, which consisted of building running/biking/equestrian trails on my school’s campus, and during 12th grade I’ve been assisting in a classroom at a local elementary school.

While I have no idea what my teachers wrote for my recommendation letters, I trust that they had nothing but good things to say about me. I also feel as if my common app essay was particularly strong, and that my supplement was very good (I can’t necessarily say this about all of my applications. Essay choice #2 (on the supplement) was right up my alley.)

With all that said, take everything above with a grain of salt. I was reading that Bard gets more than enough applicants who are statistically qualified to attend. Where they really focus their attention is on the subjective area of each individual’s application. Writing skills, thoughtfulness, intellectual curiosity, etc, etc, etc. I’m sure they’d be perfectly fine with denying someone with a 2200 SAT, while accepting someone with an 1800.

Congratulations to everyone who got in! For those still waiting, keep in mind that your stats, as in numbers, are not going to matter much. My daughter’s gpa was only average and she didn’t even submit SAT scores. Bard looks at the whole person, not just the numbers. Good luck.

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted to Bard! I was accepted Early Action-- almost positive that I will be attending next year, just waiting for my financial aid package. I would love to be a part of the “Bard College Class of 2017” Facebook group (if anyone here is creating it). Feel free to add me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/graylen

that is sort of the question is being a levy scholar mean you got the scholarship?

congrats to all by the way…

Did you apply for the scholarship and plan to study economics? If so, I’d say there’s a darned good chance you won it!

yes, and yes…

i actually emailed them and asked if being a scholar ment she moved to round 2 for the scholarship…

their answer was that she was named (bold) a levy scholar

they mail financial statements in like 2 weeks… i feel WAY stupid… so i don’t want to call…
…
but not sure if i want to jump up and down for her or not… it’s a GREAT scholarship/opportunity (i hope) with the levy inst. of economics.

Can someone tell me what Bard means please?

Sent from my LG-VM696 using CC

laqu997 - No need to feel stupid. Call them tomorrow and find out! It’s very exciting, and I can’t imagine that it would mean anything else. But I can see how you would hesitate to celebrate before you knew for sure. And let us know, please :)

Got in today.

SAT: 2300 (800 CR, 740 M, 760 W)
ACT: 33 (forget breakdown)
GPA Weighted: 3.78 Unweighted: Not sure, we never see it, but I’d imagine 3.3-3.4
Ranking: Top 30% of a class of around 250, Catholic school. We only do deciles.
APs: Took just about every AP/Honors possible, 5 on English Language and 4 on AP US, taking four more this spring.
Essays: Honestly, pretty good. Got multiple compliments on them. Did the Seneca one, in case anyone’s interested.
ECs: Captain of the chess team, played football and track, Model UN

Not sure if we’ll be able to afford it. Can barely afford the other LACs I got into and they gave me 10-15k merit on top of need-based. Any word on when financial aid comes? I like in California and got the letter Friday.

they said numbers would be out in a ‘few weeks’ whatever that means…

i’m waiting till then to learn about scholarships for my daughter fingers crossed

I suppose that I am a lurker of these boards and have been for quite some time (until this post is submitted, anyhow!). I’ve applied as a transfer student and after multiple visits and some essays that I’m considerably fond of, I’m all but shaking in my boots with excitement. Congratulations to all who’ve been accepted. Although I won’t be class of 2017, this seems like the most active and relevant thread for me to participate in.

I wonder how the acclimation will be, both socially and academically, for a transfer student. I’m confident that it will be a unique experience just as the straight-from-HS track seems to be.

D accepted! We received letter on Saturday. Financial packet to follow. Congrats to all!

I got my acceptance today!
I had super average grades and didn’t submit my 1940 SAT score, but I had a groovy interview and drove up from Georgia to visit the campus. Financial aid will determine my acceptance, but I’m really leaning towards Bard. I want to meet everyone!!!

I called today and was told they expect to send the financial aid packages out the end of the first week of April.

Son was accepted as EA and wants to study music & creative writing. Bard is still on top of his list despite a very generous offer from his safety school. The financial packages will be mailed in the first week of April. Congratulations to all who made the cut!!

Kalina77 - I don’t think you can find a better school to study both music and creative writing. Both departments are fantastic.
