Greetings,

I’m a piano student looking to apply to Bard College and Conservatory.

Do I have a better chance applying with the Bard Entrance Exam or the Common App?

I know everyone’s really excited about the entrance exam, and I think it’s a really cool idea but I just don’t have time I think to do a good job on that application…but I could crank it out…

Will I still have a chance of getting in with just the Common App?

Also I’m applying to the conservatory.

without knowing more about your talent and scores I cannot tell whether you which option to take. call your admissions officer and see what he or she suggests. this entrance exam is so new that parents and prospectives don’t really know whether it’s a good option for them. if you have the stats, why risk the new thing unless you just like that kind of thing. but you’ll still have to audition in March. Good luck.

Check the student profile on the Bard website, if you fall into the median and you were relatively active in high school I would suggest the Common App.

Did anyone else decide to do the Bard exam?

I recall reading in the New York Times that a relatively small number of students applied by way of the exam and the percentage admitted was somewhat similar to the Common App.
