Barefeet

Barefoot in my room, slippers in my suite, and shoes everywhere else.

You know - those feet aren't necessarily as disgusting as shoes
They are when one considers people don't wear shoes to sleep. Meaning lots of people go barefoot in dorms and tuck those feet-- not shoes-- right into their beds when they go to sleep.

Unless there is a key difference in "stickibility" between shoes and bare feet
Perhaps not. Unless you're thinking in-between toes and in and under toenails on bare feet.

Personally I always wear socks in the house - since it's really easy to switch them whenever I step on something disgusting

That's a good idea.

do you touch your computer mouse and keyboard with your bare hands?

dood....y don't you just make sure your feet are clean before going to bed? maybe....washing them?

Not an effective comparison. People at a minimum usually wash their hands before eating and after using the restroom, besides a bunch of other reasons. Compare how often people wash their hands daily to how often people wash their feet daily. The level of cleanliness most of us keep our hands is at a much higher level than the level of cleanliness we expect of our feet. You can't compare them the way you're intending.

Of course. But its also the idea of willingly treading barefoot through assorted filth from all over the place that creeps me out, even if you wash most of it off afterwards.

I guess foot cleanliness is relative to different people. Even some different cultures care more about foot cleanliness. Some cultures don't wear shoes inside the house. Or think about ablution in the Islamic religion and how some American universities have agreed to install foot baths for their Muslim students. Wanting the feet to be clean can be hygenic and/or religious.

What's about 20x worse is people who wear shoes inside the house, esp. on carpet, I'd still never walk around barefoot in the bathrooms, but at least you can wash your feet there before you leave or something.

HIPPIES they have the nastiest feet

Along with washing hands more often than feet, I also don't let other people use my laptop therefore I don't have other stuff on it.

You just can't equate cleanliness of hands with cleanliness of feet.

Even if laptops and computer mice store a lot of various germs, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a personal computer that is as filthy as the floor of a student dormitory. Most computers do not have traces of salivia, phlegm, urine, feces, kitchen food and drink, dirt, fertilizer and pesticides etc., originating from hundreds of different people, that you could commonly find tracked onto a floor in a dorm and by extension on someone's bare feet.

PS: I have to admit every week I wipe down my laptop and mouse with a Clorox wipe myself.

I went barefoot all the time in the dorms-my room, hallways, laundry room, bathrooms...I guess I went barefoot alot growing up (on a farm) and it never bothered me one bit. I don't like wearing socks or shoes when relaxing

I will NEVER go barefoot in the dorms. I wear sandals at the least. Even in my room I wear sandals on the linoleum floor. The only time I'm barefoot other than in my bed is when I'm standing on the floor rug on my room. I can't believe people go into the dorm bathrooms barefoot...I can maybe understand it if it's not communal, but in a communal??? That's just sick. Some people shower barefoot in the communals...they're just asking for trouble. :Belches:

...why does everyone have such strong opinions on other people's feet?

I follow the same rules as someone up there, barefoot on carpeted floor / wood floor is fine, flip flops are fine ANYWHERE ELSE. I wore flip flops and socks to class on Friday.

I actually keep a bottle of Purel on me at all times, so that if I'm typing at a public computer (like I am now), and I want to touch something in my backpack, or my own computer, I just put a couple squirts of Purel on, rub my hands together, and go. It works out quite well...

I do the same. I hate using white Macs at school and seeing the dirt marks and prints. Yay hand sanitizer!

I go barefoot in my dorm room or when I'm out in the lounge on a lazy afternoon BUT I ALWAYS wear sandals or flip flops when I go to the washroom.

On warm days I usually wear my sandals; saves a trip to the laundry (only do undies, shorts, and shirts). I love the look when I open my closet and see fresh white socks just sitting there, waiting to be used on chilly days.
