The next wait begins. . .
Last year they took 59 people off waitlist!
Do you have any information on how many people were on the waitlist last year? I was put on it this year and am hoping for the best
Sorry, ignore what I said - just saw your comment on the other Barnard thread about the total number of people waitlisted!
gonna try my best to get pulled off the wait list!
@avonweasley Per the common data set, last year they offered 1615 people waitlist spots. 1340 people accepted. 59 people were accepted off the waitlist.
Well keep in mind for that I don’t think Barnard has a specific way to confirm the waitlist so if you don’t say anything you stay on. I doubt all 1340 of those people stayed in contact and continued to show interest.
@a20171 good point. If anyone has any contact with admissions will you post what you learn here? Where is everyone going to accept in the meantime?
im still waiting for a few decisions but i might accept holyoke. really hoping barnard comes through though! i emailed my regional counselor for barnard and i am waiting to hear back.
My good friend is going to stay on the waitlist, but she is going to accept Georgetown in the meantime
Will probably accept Berkeley or Vassar but remain on waitlist. Anyone sending in a formal letter of continued interest?
Does anyone know if the take people of the wait list every year? I know they took a bunch last year but I know a lot of schools vary year to year and some years don’t take any people at all I can’t find the stats (with multiple years) for waitlist for them anywhere online
I am sending a letter of continued interest and some recommendations. I have Holyoke to commit to but I really really hope I get off Barnard’s waitlist. I’m just worried I won’t because I am international or not a good enough applicant. I replied to the waitlist offer within a minute though, but I don’t know if that makes any difference
and @collegescary666 I think people who are getting into Barnard lately either cannot afford it or have gotten better offers at other top schools so they might let Barnard go, giving room for us. This is what I hope; I know a few people declining Barnard but then again all schools accept more than they will enroll so we’ll see if there is space for us. I think in 2015 they took none or a very limited amount of people off the waitlist but I’m not sure. Best of luck
random but is barnard more likely to take people off the waitlist who didn’t apply for FA? bc i did apply :-S
@thenewstyped no, Barnard, like other Ivy League schools, is need blind. So they do not take into account applying for FA when accepting students!
@collegescary666 here is the common data set link for Barnard: wait list (as well as acceptance rate info) for each year: https://barnard.edu/administration/institutional-research-and-assessment/college-statistics/common-data-set
ok bless i was worried about that haha
@kibbles gahh thats kinda scary for waitlists but!! it looks like some years the % fluctuating so prayin it works in our favor haha
Well as others have pointed out those who accept spots may decide to give up on the waitlist and move on. Probably not a realistic number of who really would say yes when they’re called. And some won’t want to lose a deposit and/or decided the school theyve commited to is where they want to go. Lots of variables. Don’t give up hope!!
