@rainbowrose: that is a good point! but i was just wondering thnxs :)

btw i never welcomed Alli!! (sorry!)

hello dere & welcome to our thread! :D

Random question…
If you get rejected as a high school senior can you still apply for a transfer when you get to college?

Yes you can apply as a transfer. You will need, of course, to do excellent work at during your first year, get involved, etc. And probably show clearly why being at Barnard will meet some specific goal that you cannot accomplish at your present school.

Check out the various transfer threads here. I know there are several who have done exactly this.

@rainbowrose - which quiz did you do which told u that a LAC would be suitable for u?

umm I think it was on USNWR… maybe I shouldn’t trust it lol
The thing is I like small classes, which is probably why I got that they suit me but I don’t think I can deal with a small CAMPUS without a lot of people. I just don’t really like the idea of 300 people lectures >.<. So I guess it’s a trade-off (unless you’re at Barnard :D)

I got in!! I’ll see you guys in 2011!

yay!!! congrats sjogren!!! omg im so excited for you!! hahaha!
i really hope we can all get in& met each other!

any advice for us sjogren? :)

@sjogren

Congrats!!!
I wish I can get in next year!

As mdh625 already asked, do you have any suggestion for us? (:

Congratulations! I’m so happy for you. =)
I hope I can say that I got in to the school next year, lol.

oh and I’m really curious too, any advice? :)

Thanks guys!

Uhmm, I would have to say write really good essays. I mean, I know that’s already a given, but I think they put a lot of emphasis on that. I’m just kind of your average student; I didn’t score exceptionally well on the ACT/SAT, I have pretty good grades, and I participate in a fair amount of extracurricular. But I spent a bunch of time on my essays (the personal statement, activities essay, and the supplement essays) thinking of creative ideas and stuff.

Also - the two most important things (according to my AP Lit teacher): be genuine and at all costs, avoid cliches!

thanks for the advice sjogren! really appreciate it& will keep it in mind when typing up those essays! :)

Hey guys! I’m new to this thread, and I’m applying RD to Barnard next year (I’m pretty sure).
I read through the thread and you all seem pretty interesting.

Hmm…well, I used to live in NY (Manhattan) and now live in FL; I want to double major in English and Medieval Studies, if I can, and I enjoy writing/reading, kayaking/canoeing, and going to the movies. Stats are kind of boring so I don’t think I’ll post those! Hopefully I can visit Barnard this spring, when classes are in session; TBH, I visited around T-giving and the campus was empty, and I didn’t get that good of a feeling, but I like what I’ve read about the school.

Hey neutralmilk!! im glad you joined our thread!
Personally the first time i went to Barnard last summer (in july) and the campus was empty! i did not like the school much… but then i went again for this science program and seeing life on the campus lol&& meetin professors as well as current students i felt a real connection! i def recommend that you go while class is in session! its a whole new vibe! :)

I will probably be applying RD next year because of financial reasons and because I’m not sure if I will be able to visit before I apply.

Ahhh! i’m really nervous for applying and everything though!! everyone on here looks so qualified!!

Hi, blu (what’s your real name)? And I’m sure if you’re interested in Barnard, you have a shot; don’t worry about that till you get to the point; just do your best till then.

Can we play a game? More like questions.

All right, what’s your guys’ favorite book?

Ah, games! I’m in.

Favourite book…got to be Lord of the Rings, forever and always. I’m a devoted Tolkien fanatic…though I do love Brave New World and Tale of Two Cities (I’m a sucker for classics) and Harry Potter will always have a special place in my heart.

i’m liv!

my favorite book… gosh that’s hard! At the moment probably Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. He writes fantastically and the story really is chilling.

Ah, LOTR over Harry Potter? I’ve read the Hobbit and the first installment of LOTR, but HP is way too special. I s’pose I have to give LOTR another try.

Also…CS Lewis is my favorite author (him and the one below) and I’m trying Tolken just because they were bffls.

Mine is Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld.

And nice going Liv!

I don’t have a favorite book. I haven’t read any pleasure books in a WHILE! I’ll tell you my favorite book, other than the Harry Potter Series, after this summer :).
