Barnard Class of '20 Discussion

How big of an impact does an alumni/professor recommendation letter have on you? What if they wrote twice to the Dean and once to your admissions counselor?

@plsplsacceptme I wanted to apply for ED too, but financial aid is super important to me so. What was it like to take a gap year? :o

@charmandquark Ah okay. I feel really free, a complete year off school - i feel like a slacker hahaha

Omg we have 8 more days!!!

Hey! How do you know it’s eight days?

@gillianm27 According to @charmandquark, from previous threads, the decisions usually came out in the second to last week of March and last year, they came out on Thursday, on March 26th. So maybe this year, decisions might come out on March 24th on Thursday (of course I am not 100% sure).

Hey guys

I just got waitlisted from UChicago so I’m here now lol

@soph1112 Lol welcome! Glad to have you. Did you apply to mostly east coast schools?

@scholar861 that makes sense. I hate not knowing the exact date. Hopefully we’ll know soon.

Barnard’s website says that they’ll email us the week before decisions are released to let us know when they’re coming out:
https://admissions.barnard.edu/admissions/admitted-students
So we might be getting an email tomorrow (today, technically)!

Hi guys I thought I would join! I lovvvveee Barnard, what subjects do you guys want to study? I am from Northern California and I want to study theater and history.

I am from New York, I want to study Architecture and Urban Studies.

I am from New York City and I want to major in Biological Sciences in the Pre-Med track.

@TeaQueen I’m from Norcal too! (Specifically the Bay Area, or the Yay Area as I like to call it).
If we all get in, you New Yorkers or going to help me get adjusted to the cold–I think I like the snow but in reality I’m a wimp.

Oh! I want to major in Physics? And minor in Spanish. But I like political stuff too. Maybe Polisci? Or Urban Studies? We’re gonna find out…

@charmandquark Omg yes! Lol it doesn’t snow a lot in NYC compared to some other states but it can still be difficult to walk or drive on some snow days. Also, I can maybe show you guys around NYC too! Oh man, I really hope we can all get in.

I’m from CT and used to the cold too! I really want to learn how to use the subway if I live in NYC!

@scholar861 Dude yes! I’d love that. I wanna find my perfect/favorite cafe and then go there so often that they know my name. It’s one of my mini life goals.

@gillianm27 I went on the subway exactly two times when I went to barnard bound. It reminds me of my metropolitan area’s BART but more complicated. What is Connecticut like? Is it diverse, quiet, lots of people or?

I’m from Maryland! I plan on double-majoring in Economics and Political Science, but I might end up switching out Poli Sci for Computer Science. (lol)
