Essays: CommonApp was very personal. Related it to being a superhero in my own way with my fascination with quantum physics and a very personal incident in my life.
Barnard prompt 1: How a tshirt from Barnard showed me that it is my place- about how I should dare to use the F (feminism) word.

Conversation with a woman in history: Nobody historical, but my grandmother who fought hard against female foeticide in India and how I need to learn how to stand by my choices no matter what the result is or hardships are.

Third: How i fight bravely against female abuse when i was groped and well, attacked and here you’re supposed to keep quiet otherwise your attacker usually tries to kill you.

Recs: Waived FERPA. But every recommender of mine knows me extremely well. The one from my dance teacher was apparently phenomenal.
**General Comments: ** To be honest, I’m shocked. After being wait-listed at Wellesley and Boston College, I was pretty sure I’d be rejected at Barnard. But I’m beyond excited and grateful. Assuming everything works out, it looks like I’ll be in New York next fall.
Congrats to everybody else who was accepted!
General Comments: Not terribly surprised with the outcome given my grades, test scores, and lack of AP classes. I’m definitely bummed because Barnard was absolutely 100% my dream school, but I really put my best foot forward on this application and if that wasn’t enough than so be it. I think the rejection letter was very vague compared to the others I received… like it would have been nice to know how many applied this year and how many spots were offered. Also, my local adcom was super responsive which was nice. I emailed her a few times with various questions and she always answered, which she definitely didn’t have to do, so that was something I found really commendable.

Best of luck to all who were accepted, and for those of us who weren’t… well it’s not the end of the world, is it?

To those reading this and thinking of applying for next year, DO IT. I had a 3.6 GPA and 28 ACT and I still got in RD. Barnard is holistic and sees you for who you are. If you have passion, go for it.
