Hello, everyone! So I have been watching this thread for MONTHS now, but this is my first post. I actually lost my CC login for a bit lol. I just thought maybe I could share some inspiration/calming thoughts.
I applied to Barnard last year RD and was waitlisted. I sent 2 letters of continued interest and did not end up getting in. Of course, I was quite disappointed with my results and started doubting myself and my abilities… but!!! I ended up enrolling in a community college for a few classes this fall and reapplying ED this time around. My point is: life does not stop because one school decided not to accept you. You can still have a very fulfilling life. And, depending on what you decide to do, you have the option to reapply to Barnard and try again!
I wishing you all some peace, and I hope you are satisfied with your results. If you aren’t, just remember that you may have met all their criteria for acceptance, but they just didn’t have enough spots. You are all worthy of a happy life!
See y’all on decision day!!

Hey fellow Barnard applicants, any advice for pessimism? Everyone keeps telling me to be positive but I don’t want to get my hopes up! I’d rather be pleasantly surprised haha.

yeah same. i know i’ll probably get into fordham and i’d be happy going there, but no school appeals to me nearly as much as barnard does. hopefully it works out, but i’m trying to not put all my eggs in one basket, ya know?

i’m crazy stressed and keep second guessing myself for barnard. :frowning: my gpa is relatively good (4.1864–my school doesn’t calculate unweighted), i’m really proud of my essay and supplements, and i lived in japan and guam for 9 years total, which i think makes me look cultured lol. i know what i have looks good, but i’m still just worried that i won’t be good enough, if that makes sense.

This might be feeding into the obsession, but I made a countdown so that I can see exactly how long it’s going to be and it’s oddly comforting?? 10/10 would reccomend. I would give y’all the link but they won’t let me post links :frowning:

if you guys are comfortable sharing, what did you write your supplements on? this kind of stuff is super interesting to me, and i love hearing about it. for mine, i wrote about how i love barnard because of the environment and attitude of barnard women, as well as how the energy at barnard is one of support instead of extreme competition. for the bold questions one, i expanded on my ib ee topic, which was about the impact of ethical guidelines on psychological advancements. lastly, i wrote about how i would talk to rosalind franklin if i could meet any woman.

Yes!! So for why Barnard, I wrote about how my favorite teacher turned out to be a sexual predator (very traumatizing), and how it made me value schools that are centered around women. For the bold questions one I wrote about my fascination with perspective and how it spans through science and philosophy and sociology. I wrote about the subject of Woman at Point Zero for the last one- this woman who was a prostitute in Egypt and faced male oppression her whole life, and how it opened my eyes to what feminism means not non- white women.
