Barnard College '23 Waitlist

Has anybody accepted their offer yet?

I have!

I did  waitlist gang represent haha

Yep, right away. Does anyone know what the deal is with their waitlist? It seems like quite a few folks were WL’d.

waitlist gang rise up!

lol jk

A ton of people were waitlisted this year for some reason

I’ve already messaged my regional representative and I might take a visit down there for spring break.

I also accepted my spot on the waitlist.

Are you guys planning to send in extra materials?

@SuperBigMusicLover yes, but primarily a letter of interest and a final year report from school. Ah the waitlist is need aware as I’ve read on their website so as an international requesting aid lol I know I’ll be rejected at the end but ah I really wanted to get into barnard ;/

@Kittywitty I have the same dilemma! I’m not a full pay student so I’m also worried that my need might factor into the decision  . I’m sending in the same stuff as well, and I hope that it works in our favor!!

Yeah @SuperBigMusicLover you know what tbh though I feel like if we demonstrate interest as soon as possible there is still a chance, since idk I feel like unlike other schools what I understood from their emails and faq was that yes they DO give spots to people on the waitlist but we just gotta demonstrate interest ;-; ah man I think I’ll also state that I’ll increase my contribution by a bit as well so yeah ah I really really hope Barnard accepts us ;-; I’ve only gotten into Bryn Mawr besides this and although their aid package like disappeared and I think they’ll release it later, i did see it and I know it’s not at all enough ? Ah but anyways good luck I really really hope we get off the wait list somewhere  I’m on the waitlist for kenyon and Johns Hopkins too ah so fingers crossed maybe a miracle happens

@SuperBigMusicLover also I read sending in your final year report helps too .-. So I think I’ll ask my school to do that as well !

@Kittywitty I’m definitely going to do that, as well as take the SAT again!

I hope that Bryn Mawr and the other wait lists work out for you!

I was deferred ED, and sent a letter of interest to them, I am in now. I would highly highly advise doing that!!

@calintx I sent mine in yesterday! Do you remember what you highlighted in yours?

@SuperBigMusicLover I highlighted things that they did not already know about me from my initial application

  • I am biracial, something I did not include in my Common App out of fear of affirmative action. I talked about how my grandma faced tremendous discrimination in the 1960s because she was Japanese and living in the Deep South
-I mentioned I am half deaf, but I overcame it by involving myself in activities that required hearing like music. I mentioned how I would supplement in class instruction with at home listening activities for my foreign language courses.
-I discussed how this fall I mentored a girl in my band who dealt with panic disorder, and how it had a lasting impact on both of us
-I really really expanded on my love for Barnard and why I really really wanted to go

Think about things that were not addressed in the initial application, especially things that occurred in the last few months. I wish you the best of luck!

@calintx Thank you, and congratulations for getting in!

waitlist gang! sent a letter of continued interest, does anyone know if we are expected to send 3rd quarter grades if they are available?

I believe that it’s optional to send them, meaning that you can send them if you improved your grades from the midyear report or just want to show that you’re still making good grades  @spoole16180

Should I send them any updates on accomplishments/extracurriculars? Or just grades and a LOCI

@edwardgorey I’d send anything that would help your case!
