Barnard College '23 Waitlist

@wishtree1427 Nice! I have major regrets not applying to more women’s colleges!

I just got an offer from a big conservation summer program I will be doing in July. Should I send another update notifying them of this? Would still really love to get off the waitlist.

@katnissjul sure! Can’t hurt although it appears there is very little movement from the WL.

Just out of curiosity, who on this thread is still on the waitlist AND considers Barnard to be their top-choice college/dream school? Say you got a miracle of a phone call from the admissions office today; would you accept the offer of admission and attend without reservation? Would this be an easy call, or would you still need to compare Barnard to the place you sent a deposit at last or financial aid packages?

@jeonjungkook I definitely think easy call for me, I consider it my top, what about you?

@jeonjungkook Still on and still top choice but I’m not holding out much hope at this point. Would accept on the phone …no FA needed. It would be a wonderful surprise if it happens. Guess transferring might be in the future.

Me!! ^

Agreed, I don’t have much hope at the point, BUT I am trying to make the best out of what I have!

@AwaitingApplicant131 It’s my top choice as well. Dream school you could even say. I saved up to fly out and visit and interview. I thought I did everything right and was a well-qualified candidate. Knowing that the waitlist is about to close and that we virtually have zero chance at this point is really tough. @vpa2019 I’m trying not to have the mentality of planning on transferring because I hear that it’s toxic and detracts from your first year of college. Also, I personally never want to have anything to do with the college application process again. That said, this whole thing is demoralizing and I’m not confident I’ll be happy where I’m going.

@jeonjungkook Sorry to hear that. This whole waitlist process is pretty demoralizing, but at the end it is a significant learning opportunity to learn more about not only yourself, but why you do the things that you do. I was in the same boat as you about a month ago. Hopefully it will work out for you either way.

@jeonjungkook I agree the process is brutal and having it drag out with out any communication from Barnard makes if worse. I hope you’ll be happy where you end up ? and remember it isn’t over till it’s over.

@wishtree1427 If you still have it and wouldn’t mind, do you think you could send me the last four digits of the phone number you got a call from? I’m really bad at picking up my phone and now I’m worried they might have tried to call me and I didn’t know it. thank you!!

@oliviamoore01 Hey, so I actually tried scrolling through my call log but it was taking way too long, and I was accepted in mid-May. I do remember the area code being 212. Regardless, it shouldn’t matter whether or not you missed the call, because they send you an email the same day saying there’s an update to your application status and a link to your portal. When you log in, your letter of admission should be there!

Any news? Good or bad ??

Not yet, but I’ve moved on

I don’t know why they haven’t just closed the waiting list yet, but I’ve also moved on for the most part.

They just closed it for me. Did anyone get the transfer option after a year? Or is that just the standard

I think it’s the standard but a nice thought even if it’s an unlikely occurrence.

@vpa2019 I have nothing to lose, so I’mma apply again next year haha. Have they released you yet? If not, good luck!
