@francesca782 thanx girl. i’m just so nervous about this entire process!!!1!!! today i ruined my favorite pair of Guess jeans by writing angsty poems on them about barnard.

anyone else?

@scarletstream.

I think you’re a ■■■■■, but I’m really not quite sure. Either that, or Woodstock, CT is full of really ghetto people.
Not sure if the word “ghetto” used outside of NYC. But it means distasteful.

In the case that you are a ■■■■■, I’ll have you know that I have no sense of humor. My entire personality is based upon saying sarcastic things with NO inflection and getting people to worry about whether or not I truly dislike them. Its actually amusing because nothing I say is as serious as I make it sound.

That being said… your trolling (if it is trolling) does not amuse me.

@amurd927. Sweet ;D

@noloserhere wow totally not a ■■■■■ here. Facebook me if u want, it’s all good. i just wanted to say whatup because you seemed tight. i dont know if you read the Collins English Dictionary (now that the Oxford English Dictionary is out of print i have like no idea waht to do with myself) but if u do you’ll see there that

“ghetto”

is a word deriving from a Venetian word for an iron-founding district where jews were sequestered in the 15th century. i’m both jewish and italian and i just want to say that i was just trying to get to know you. u’ve been a total leader for this forum and you rock. now i just feel ostracized.

viva barnard

@amurd (feels weird not using your real name…): I appreciate the Chiller suggestion, but Comic Sans is my angst font. CUT MY LIFE INTO PEACHES

@scarletstream: Your trolling technique is questionable but your username is ace.

NOT ME

http://www.wonderlane.com/images/fremont_troll.jpg

I HAVE AN IDEA: Everyone post a technique that helps you relax and take away your stress or anxiety!

AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER FANGIRLS:
Just rewatched the “Nightmares and Daydreams” episode, and I found it AMAZINGLY relatable to our situation! (re)watch it, and revel in its glory with meeeee hehe ;P

haha lol chill.
i was trying to be funny…

(see? i suck at it).
:P

apparently barnard girls are all really well-dressed. how do you guys dress? my friends are really into fashion, so this is just out of curiosity…

hopefully its not an inadvertently heternormative question…

SORRY FOR OSTRACIZING YOU I DIDNT MEAN TO

youre right. i am tight. and it has nothing to do with barnard. ive just been in a crapass mood because i have so much schoolwork right now.

I’m really sorry! :/

Okay to be perfectly honest, I think I sometimes make an effort to be really mean or cold because people dont really take me seriously in real life (I look really young and people treat me like I’m a middle schooler). I was just kidding though

Sigh I suck at jokes.

I don’t really do anything about my stress. I procrastinate alot, but that stress me out even more.

Before I submitted my application to Barnard, I felt very stressed out about the quality of my essays. I did alot of origami and found that it kept my mind off of things. (I folded 1002 paper cranes–you can guess what I wished for ;)

I like the clothes question!! I wear a uniform, but, on the weekends, short-ish dresses with or without leggings depending on the season (not that there are real seasons where I live…it’s essential eternal summer) with boots. I’m a total shoe fiend - especially with boots…ankle boots, heeled boots, flat boots, uggs, so on. So much love. I also wear a lot of jewelry, mostly from Forever 21. I’m also wholly obsessed with Barney’s and am beyond stoked to (hopefully) not have to just shop at the co-op next year. And then in summertime, I live in a baithing suit, shorts, and various tops…or floor length jersey material dresses.

Girls at Barnard do dress really well. My school dresses very casually, sweats and a sweatshirt are the norm. But in the winter i like wearing sweaters with leggings/jeans and boots. Two things I love: seven for all mankind jeans and anything sparkly.

um am currently having a major panic attack about prom/spring break stuff. why does that stuff stress me out more than college stuff?

Noloserhere, don’t fret! I’m 99% sure scarletstream (if the username doesn’t give it away) is a ■■■■■. And as for the heteronormativity thing, don’t worry about that, either. If you’re not extremely involved in the LGBT and/or feminist community chances are you haven’t heard of the term. It simply means not allowing heterosexuality and cisgender to be the default. It’s as simple as replacing the word “guy” with “partner” so that no assumptions are made about other people’s sexual orientation or gender.

And I try to dress well but I don’t buy any expensive clothes since I have to buy my own and my wardrobe is quite small. I’ve become particularly stressed and therefore have slacked with my looks as of late. I have a tendency of rolling out of bed, putting on yoga pants and whatever shirt is clean, and bolting. I only bother with makeup on the weekends when I’m going out with friends or expecting male company. Barnard women dress so well, though - if I get in I’m going to have to step it up!

I miss the warm weather dearly, though. I absolutely love dresses - not only do they make you look fashionable and chic even when you put no effort into your appearance whatsoever, but they’re also the one article of clothing that lets you get away with going out in public without pants on.

@scarletstream i feel you with the angsty poems. care to share one?

hope i’m not ostracizing you/putting you on the spot or anything.

i would like to read some too if you don’t mind! :)

Finally, i lost my password for this… i have been admittedly avidly reading the posts on here!

treehuga-i was accepted but am awaiting the letter with merit info for tulane. haven’t visited yet…congrats though-full ride is amazing! also- i am planning to rush also-and know two barnard girls in columbia sororities who love it! also (these are probably starting to sound stalker-esc but i just remember all the posts sticking out to me…) i love seven jeans too!

so, in terms of clothing question- amrud i am in the same boat- lately i’ve been very lazy with looks and while my school has a dress code…leggings and whatevers comfy/clean have been my dress lately. though, normally i am really into fashion (especially shoes) but in terms of just cloths, i tend to dress very simply- i don’t like large obnoxious labels or clothing with words written on them and i’d say my favorite brands are theory, splendid and tiby

anyone literally only able to concentrate on barnard? I can’t focus on any of my work and all i’ve been doing is thinking about barnard- this, is becoming a huge problem considering i have a 10 page religion paper due monday, along with an ap euro dbq, ap lit essay, pre calc (yes, i suck at math) project, ethics case study (on the college process, quit fitting/ironic right?) and 4 tests to study for… ■■■…i have never been so procrastinative with my school work, and more obsessive and nervous about something!

i am trying to tell myself that i, and we all for that matter, will end up where we’re meant to be…but, like all other things in life, this is much easier said then done

oh, and this is SUPER delayed thank you noloserhere for all those admissions stats from previous years and your predictions… i found them to be very helpful :)

@yallah et al: thanks for the shout out on the poetry. I usually do haikus but have been keeping it more free flowing for barnard

“flow”
so many women
their heads turn like vinyl records, silently
when i walk into the dining hall.

they are like cheetahs in heat
they know me as frosh
for i do not yet cycle with them

also sumone needs to explain to me *** heteronormative means because my gay uncle had no idea when i asked. And thanks guys I feel much less ostrasized

LOL i gotta say… this is bizarre. A ■■■■■ on a Barnard ED thread? i’m actually cracking up cause its so random. I can understand a ■■■■■ on a Yale EA, Columbia ED, or Harvard thread… but really, Barnard? The school/thread isn’t THAT popular to merit a ■■■■■, is it? Lol this is funny.

Haha next year’s EDers are going to look through this forum and see a random 400 hundred-foot tall purple platypus bear with pink horns and silver wings.

Props if you got that ref :)

scarletstream, please don’t leave. you’re amusing.

Wow, that’s amazing. You just, like, get me, you know? It’s like our womynly energy is in sync.

@jrm927 thanx girl. I have lots more pairs of jeans so have lots more poems that ive written. Its casual.

@noloserhere i dont get that reference unless it was catcher in the rie

@noloserhere: I GOT YOUR REFERENCE! oh azulaaaa…
