I’m a little nervous that I haven’t heard anything back from Barnard yet. Has anyone who applied at the deadline received a tracking number?

Hey NACREOUS, according to Barnard’s application tracking site (https://snowbird.barnard.edu/pls/bcapp/admission.input_cid), you should get it in about one-two weeks after submission, so I wouldn’t worry unless it hasn’t arrived by next week. Then you can call the admissions office to see what’s up :)

Three weeks guys!!! Ahhhh.

Another ED applicant here, and I’m so glad everything is in after a minor fiasco involving missing the financial aid form deadline and forgetting to fax in our tax returns. My love for Barnard can can only be explained in the immortal words of Liz Lemon: I want to go to there.

And treehugga, thanks for reminding me…just when I thought I couldn’t be any more nervous!

I had chinese food for dinner, and here’s what my fortune cookie said: “A cheerful letter of message is on it’s way to you.” An ED acceptance letter, perhaps? I hope so…
Less than 3 weeks left, ladies! Best of luck to all as we wait.

I received my tracking number in my email yesterday and when I checked my application status they had basically received everything, literally everything. It’s so nerve-racking thinking that they could just reject or accept you right then and there. We got this, ladies, stay strong!

Hey guys! Does anyone know if the decisions are sent in the mail or via the tracking website?

Thanks!!! Good luck to everyone!!

The admissions officer for my region said that all decisions are sent via snail mail. There was a way for admitted students to figure it out from website stuff a day or two before official decisions came out last year, but I think it was a fluke that will probably be fixed this year. The idea that you get your decision in paper only makes it that much more nerve-wracking!

Eeeek I know! Thanks for the response!

Ladies - I am having issues with my ACT scores! I sent them the second week of October and they still have not been received/dowloaded by Barnard. Is anyone else having a similar issue?? My EA schools have all received the scores…

I LOVE Barnard and applied ED and am going crazy waiting for December 15th and telling my parents that if I don’t get in, they better shower me with the best Christmas presents EVER because that will be the only way to get me out of my room. I’m really nervous because, even though I did very well on my SAT, get straight As in school, and have been working professionally in theater/acting my whole life, I didn’t do well on my SAT IIs…at all. One of my scores was very average, but way lower than what I expected, while my other score is pretty bad as far as I’m concerned. Can anyone tell me if they think getting a 560 on one of my SAT IIs could bring down my application? I know I sound annoying but honestly so does everyone on this website. Thanks!!!

PeaceLoveTheatre, I had a similar issue with a different school. My twin sister and I sent our SAT scores to two rolling schools on the exact same day and the schools received her scores but not mine. I called the CollegeBoard and they said the scores would send in another 2-3 weeks but, after having my mom give them a bit of a guilt trip (I couldn’t bring myself to do it!), they said they’d send my scores in the next 2-3 days for free. Two weeks later I got into both schools, so it worked out just fine!

Barnard can see that you sent them your scores if you paid and sent them, but the scores themselves might not have shown up yet. I’d advise you to call the CollegeBoard and, if you don’t have a darling mother who’s willing to give them a hard time, it’s ~$30 to have them rush your scores - if that’s the case, if we both get in I owe you $30 on Move-In Day as an apology for my expensive advice. I think their hours are 9 to 5 on Monday through Friday and you can check out the website to find their contact information. Good luck, and I’m sure it’ll all work out!

NYC1994, I wouldn’t worry about it. They’re holistic and they wouldn’t turn down an otherwise stellar applicant if one score was below their average. Plus they place less emphasis on standardized tests than they do on GPA, essays, and ECs, so I’m sure you’re fine. Regardless of whether you’re accepted (fingers crossed!) or rejected that one bad SAT II score probably won’t be the reason for their decision.

Just a little more than two weeks left! I think we’re all in need of a kumbaya circle right now. I have high hopes for all of you wonderful ladies!

@amurd927: Thank you for your advice!! (: Haha, my mother will be more than willing to give them a hard time. They still haven’t been received, so I will call after school today. They definitely should have been in by now…this is getting ridiculous.

No problem! And I just looked over your posts and saw that you’re a Cappie - I’m a Cappie too! What shows are you seeing this year? I must say, I am very excited that I don’t have to see Grease at all this year.

You’re a Cappie?? Haha, that’s so exciting!! Thankfully not too many productions of “Grease” or “Millie” this year…it seems like every school is doing “The Diviners”, though, which I hadn’t heard of before this year. What about you?

I know! I never thought I’d find a Cappie connection on CC!

I haven’t heard of the Diviners either. And we have a Millie shortage too - I’m fairly certain that out of my three years of Cappiedom this is the first without at least three Millies. Another one I end up seeing every single year is Urinetown, and I’ve gotta say, the magic is gone after seeing it twice in one season. This year I only have one show I’ve already seen for Cappies, but it’s Beauty and the Beast so it’s pretty unavoidable. We surprisingly don’t have any two schools doing the same show this year, although there are three TBAs that could break the chain.

But I’ve got some great ones - I’m most excited for The Complete Works of William Shakespeare and How to Succeed. I did get assigned Jesus Christ Superstar and I have a bit of an aversion to Andrew Lloyd Webber, but I saw a surprisingly great production of Joseph last year so you never know.

lol whats cappie?

PSST…
BARNARD IN SIXTEEN DAYS!!

;D

but no seriously whats cappie?

i go to school in nyc and i seriously believe ive missed out on crucial parts of high school… its an insanely nontraditional high school… not a real high school experience at all.

Barnard ED apps only rose 2%, which means the acceptance rate should be around 40%. Not too bad!

Thanks so much for that link, treehugga - considering how much the ED applications increased from 2010 to 2011 I was expecting the acceptance rate to decrease a lot more. I’m preparing myself for the worst but those numbers give me an inkling of hope!
