I heard the decisions will be out sometime on Tuesday, December 11th. Feels like forever but also it’s only three months and 10 days!!
Is anyone doing an interview?
@Leila747 Yes! I scheduled my interview on October 10th!
Mine is September 27th!!
Does anyone know if they’re giving out off campus alumni interviews yet? I’m from Texas and can’t visit campus
According to Barnard’s website, registrations for off-campus Alumnae interviews open in mid-September
EE! I am also applying ED! Barnard is my dream school and I just signed up for the open house!
I’m going to open house as well!
I’m considering EDing! I might ED to Barnard or Duke! I haven’t decided but I absolutely loved Barnard when I toured it and I love NYC so much
Anyone know what they plan on majoring in if they get in?
I plan on majoring in Political Science and minor in Art History and possibly Pre-Law
If the ED financial aid offer is not enough to support attendance, you say thanks but no thanks, and apply elsewhere. But run the Net Price Calculator to get an idea if it’s even worth applying ED or RD.
Correct!
I’m applying ED and I’m worried my ‘stats’ are a little on the low side for Barnard… I debated for a long time about ED vs RD because I was worried about financial aid, and having made the decision to apply ED, I’m also prepared to pull out should the financial aid be insufficient. I really want to stop thinking about all of this because I’m somehow still falling more in love with the school and if I get rejected it might b devastating lol. I just have to trust that if they think I’d be a good fit, then they’ll accept me. And if not…
Also, I look great on paper, my essays will probably be solid, my GPA and test scores aren’t impressive but they’re normal for Barnard admissions I think. Buttttt transcripts won’t be sent until after ED decisions come out (I think???) And everything I self reported is accurate, but there’s a pretty big blip/red flag/grade that they may not see until after sending out aceptances/rejections. From what I’ve heard, if something self reported is inaccurate then your acceptance may be rescinded, but Barnard doesnt ask for self reported grades so I can’t even be upfront about it yikessssss
I plan on double-majoring in Human Rights and English
I’m applying ED for psychology! Very nervous yet extremely excited. I’m from Houston, Texas anyone else?
I plan on majoring in biology (basically I plan on going pre med)! I’m so scared!! I’m not sure if I’m EDing yet bc of financial issues and I’m just so up and down about the school. I love everything about it and it’s location. My only concern is whether or not I’ll struggle because it’s such a strong academic school that may be prone to competitiveness amongst the students (which I don’t want) it’s my top choice for ED if I decide to go and I have legacy there but I just need time to think on it I visited and I loved it!! I’m just doubting myself
I doubted myself a lot too…I hear that in general Barnard is soooo much less competitive than Columbia. I think a lot of it also depends on the people you choose to surround yourself with - I, personally, don’t plan on being best friends with people that are focused on the culture of competitiveness. I feel like Barnard women tend to be more focused on supporting each other anyway, though.
I truly feel like one of the reasons why I am applying to Barnard is because you’re around such strong women who all have the want to learn and succeed, the curriculum is way better than Columbia in my opinion and the campus is close and tight knit and it seems so perfect. Honestly doubting that I may apply ED because my only SAT scour would be the October score.
sorry, but Barnard is competitive, and it’s hard to escape. Realize that what you’re seeing is carefully cultivated by Barnard and may not be a true representation. not to be a downer, but just keep an open mind with all colleges and don’t get yourself sold.
(current Barnard junior who feels she made the wrong choice putting everything into this school from the beginning)
