Barnard College ED Class of 2022!

wow that’s nerve-wracking… thanks for calling and letting us know! good luck guys and let’s try not to stress ourselves out too much

Ah so apparently columbia was notified today that results r out next Thursday around 7pm. This is really giving me so much anxiety :frowning:

Honestly maybe we should just assume Friday and stop stalking this thread and refreshing our emails 25/7

@sleepychild I like that idea

Can colleges send out notification dates on weekends? Like tomorrow, can we expect a mail or the Office will remain closed?

Did anyone get the email yet?

No, we didn’t! Did you?

Nope.

I’m so upset it didnt come today. I just wanna know when it comes so that I have time to prepare myself

Does anyone know if Barnard only looks at unweighted GPA or if they would look at the weighted? I think my application is really well rounded except for a really low GPA. They asked for first quarter grades but my school doesn’t do quarters so I got a waiver which I hope doesn’t risk admission!!

@kooks12 my school is also unweighted lol dw, obviously the weighted scores are higher so they won’t exactly compare you to people with weighted gpas. The Rep for your region should know that your school is unweighted and that they just happen to not do quarter grades. The portal only asks for them if available. It’s not as crucial as how you are as a person! I think we all got an email if we didn’t submit them by novemver 23rd and most of us just followed up with a clarification email so it was alright. If you’re worried, don’t be scared to email your regional Rep or the office of admissions although it does seem a bit late. It doesn’t hurt tho.

Hi All,

Current Barnard first-year here. Just some reflections on getting into Barnard ED last year…

  • Decisions are usually released around 6:00 EST. That being said, don't expect your decision to arrive right at that time. It isn't telling of whether or not you're going to get in, so don't stress out if you get the email a few minutes after 6:00.
  • Last year they sent out an email informing us of the decision date about 5 days prior. Our decision day was December 13 and I believe I received the initial email on December 8, so expect to get an email really soon.
  • Last year, Columbia's decision day was one day prior to Barnard's. This seems to be a pattern, so if you find out the CU decision day, chances are that Barnard's will be within a day of it.
  • Don't mix up the emailed acceptance letters with the tangible ones. For example, Columbia Spec posted an article that said all acceptance letters had been "sent out" (meaning "mailed out") around noon on Barnard's decision day, and a lot of people thought this meant that they could view their acceptance letters. Your tangible acceptance letters will arrive via snail mail a few days after you find out via the online portal.

If you have any questions about Barnard in general, please feel free to let me know. Best of luck.

@NaMUNaste someone got notified from Columbia today that their decisions will be available next thursday so does that mean that Barnard will release next Friday? :frowning: ugh thats so far away!

Has anyone not applied yet and is applying for regular decision?

Hi all! Is there any chance that Barnard won’t give us a release date and will instead just send the results?

@IA2000 that certainly shouldn’t be the case! Last year they even posted on Instagram and it’s weird that they wouldn’t do so this year. Plus they’ve never done that- all in all, I’d say 5% chance of that happening.

@NaMUNaste thank you that info is mad helpful! Do you like Barnard so far ? How hard is the work? Are you taking any Columbia classes ? What’s the social scene like?

I think the reason why the results might come a little late this year is because they extended the early decision deadline because of people that were affected by natural disasters and shootings.

@gg007 good point I think you are correct

@gg007 I don’t think Barnard extended the deadline, did it?
