I really really like everything about Barnard College. It's unique, liberal, highly-ranked, and small, while in Manhattan -- everything I want in a college.

However, I'm not a girl. Does anyone have a male/co-ed version of Barnard that fit my stats?

Stats:
30-32 ACT
3.9 UW/4.0 W
Top 3% class of 300
Deep and well-rounded ECs, leadership, community service

What about Vassar, Macalester or Reed? All highly regarded urban LACs. Poughkeepsie, Minneapolis and Portland aren’t NYC, but each location has strong points.

We visited Vassar and couldn’t wait to get out of Poughkeepsie, small and pretty dingy except the block closest to campus. We were told you can get to NYC in an hour and a half by bus.

xiggi, I think Columbia is a little far from my reach.

M’s Mom, I’ve definitely considered Macalester! I live in southern Minnesota, so it wouldn’t be too far. I’ll look into the others you listed. I have looked at Reed, too.

It just seems so different when it’s not in NYC!

Sarah Lawrence is more of a specialty school in visual and performing arts, and a few other subjects like history, literature, psychology, and writing, and interdisciplinary combinations of these subjects (e.g. ethnic or area studies). Most other subjects are only offered to the level that students looking for breadth would take.
