I really want to go to Barnard College. I plan on giving my SAT again in January 2017.

I have a SAT score of 1200/1600 (Maths:660 R&W:540, Essay: 18/24)

Extra Curriculars:
Organized a Photography Workshop in school.
Interviewed a famous photographer. Had him come over to teach us
photography tools. Participation in photography competitions to strengthen my
skills.

Volunteered at SOS Children’s Villages(Pakistan)
Helped orphans read, write and have conversations. Motivated them on how
they can make their lives successful.

Head of Editorial Board.
I was the head of the English section of school yearbook. When published,
received a badge for being a conscious and motivated Head!

Head Girl in the Student Council.
Was elected as the Head Girl and received a badge for it. I was very responsible
towards this post & gave it my best

Took part in Eid Drive Donation
Eid being a cultural festival of happiness, I helped in collecting bangles and
other things for girls. They were donated to families in small villages
Research

Analysis on the Purity of Water.
Experimented tap water ad bottled water to see whether or not tap water/bottled
water is safe for drinking. It was a 4,000 word research report.
Community Service (Volunteer)

Parking Lot Cleanup Project
Did group work in cleaning up school’s parking lot.Investigated, planned, did
action by picking up trash, placing trashcans & spread awareness

Camping
Learnt how to set a tent, did rafting, stream crossing, repelling.

Head of Debates Club
Oraganized in-house debate sessions and participated in many.

I plan on doing alot more.

I’ve done my O-Levels (GCE) and got 8A’s and 1B.
What are my chances if my major is undecided but maybe wanna go for BioChem?

SAT score is kinda low, ECs kinda weak (like camping, were you a girl scout?)… I think you have a shot tho

You don’t need more ECs. You have plenty listed there. List the ones that are meaningful to you and you have committed for a period of time. Try to raise your SAT. Good luck!!

What’s your gpa? Your sat is very low for Barnard.

What would help to improve my chances to going to Barnard, other than SAT score?

@kainat1998 Barnard is such an amazing school!! I love it so much. Applying ED, founding a club, interning some place interesting, doing a Barnard pre-college program, and getting great teacher recommendations would help a lot. Barnard also cares sooo much about essays (perhaps, more than other top schools), so I would spend a lot of time making sure your essays are amazing.

Acceptance rate is 14.8% now, so definitely try to stand out and be unique if possible. Barnard loves girls who are going to change the world, so emphasize your commitment to making the world a better place.
