Barnard College RD Class of 2022!

Hey guys!! I thought it would be great to start a discussion for those of us applying RD for Barnard College!

Hi! Has everyone sent their applications in yet?

I haven’t! Still working on those essays :((

I just did a couple days ago! Having to wait three months for decisions is gonna be agonizing

Same the essays have been killing me :frowning:

Yeah like the one where we talk about a woman we would interview or something, I feel like anything I write is really cliche :frowning:

Hey guys I just applied ED to Columbia College and was rejected, but Barnard is my second choice so I’d just like to say hey

Does anyone know when the RD decisions come out?

@mw0990 The website states “Late March” (https://admissions.barnard.edu/apply-barnard/dates-deadlines).

For the past two years decisions have been let out on the fourth Thursday of March. This year, that would be March 22nd.

Omg I literally cannot wait that long :open_mouth:

Me either :((((((

That’s so long from now!!! Ugh I just want to find out now

Hey fellow applicants! I was wondering if for the secondary supplement if any of you chose a modern day woman? I know that they ask for a historical or fictional character but did anyone choose to do someone like Michelle Obama (just for an example, not what I’m doing!)? Or if you know that they do or don’t want that please help me out! Thanks.

Aside from the fact that she is still alive (ie not historic), they want your answer to be unique, not a classic female leader. Try and find an obscure woman in history (or fiction) and write about her

@therebetterbdogs I feel like, as long as you write a well-considered and explained essay about Michelle Obama or someone similar, you might actually stand out for your choice and wouldn’t face a penalty for being clichéd if your commentary is not cliché. You could also make the point that, although she is still alive, this woman will become history… So go with your gut, and don’t worry too much about what the admissions officer is going to think about your choice. The important thing is that your essay say something meaningful about who you are.

Good luck!

OMG I just submitted!!! Now for the waiting… :((

All the apps are in AAAAH!

I’m pretty happy with what I submitted, but we shall see what Barnard thinks!
