Barnard College RD Class of 2022!

Good luck everyone! fingers crossed

I did Salma Hayek with the Harvey Weinstein stuff going on and her filming Frida.

Also, I submitted mine at 11:58 and the email confirmation said that I submitted it the 2nd. What do I do now?

@mariamaconde You’re probably fine, but you can email them to confirm that it was on time if you’re worried. Gl everyone!!

Good luck everyone!!!

@therebetterbdogs I did! I chose Fran Lebowitz (who is sort of important in a historical context) and I feel like it was fine. I’m sure they’re looking for answers a little outside of the box, so if you chose someone still living, you’re probably okay.

Do you guys think Helen Reddy is cheesy? I chose her bc I was named after something in one of her songs and it inspires me and yadayada

D chose Lady Sybil, the political activist sister on Downton Abbey.

What matters isn’t so much WHO you select to write about, but WHY. Barnard is looking to these essays to learn something about you and what you feel is important. So focus on why you have selected a particular woman, and not worry about what they will think of your choice.

I did mine on Annie Nathan Meyer, the founder of Barnard, and for the explanation I discussed how I found it interesting she named the women’s college after a man and how she would justify that in modern times with feminism being more and more prominent, etc. I had my interview today and it went really well!

I wrote about Mary Wollstonecraft!

does anyone know when the decisions come out for barnard?

@totahanem, It was March 23 for c/o 2021, so likely “late March” (per their website)!

@MaddyP @dschwa6304 wow it’s so interesting to hear what everyone wrote about!!

mine was abt Lucretia Mott, an abolitionist suffragette.

What happens if we get waitlisted?

Hey y’all! Wishing everyone luck with this waiting period. Remember to stay positive.

Is anyone a STEM major? I’m chemistry!

I applied for computer science, but neuroscience is my second choice @AcademiaSavvy
