I toured the school after Thanksgiving and fell in love. I already got into University of South Florida, Central Florida, Florida State, New College of FL, and Tulane. Still waiting for Unversity of Florida and of course Barnard.

Anything you can tell me would be much appreciated.

Love, Julie

Hey, I went to USF for a year before transferring to Barnard. Cool to see someone else from the area interested. Your scores and grades are pretty solid; how's your rank? Your EC's seem pretty dedicated, especially to music and math. Did you apply RD? What did you write about for your essays?

I'm 52 out of 601, 9th Percent. I'm leaning political science or something like that. I'm still working on my essays (I know, I know the deadline is Jan. 1) but I'll have everything done in time.

Why did you transfer?

Julie

The essays are important, so take as much time as you need to make them shine. If you can make yourself come out there, I think you've got a strong shot.

I just decided I wanted a more traditional college experience.

Do you think it was easier to transfer? Do you think you missed out on anything because you weren't there from freshmen year?

Julie

Hmm, I really can't say if it was easier or not. SAT scores and admissions rates are about the same, and college GPA should be above 3.7 to be competitive. But I do think that coming from a very different school, like USF, it was easy to make a case for why I wanted to go somewhere new.

I do sometimes feel like I missed out by not being here, though.

Bump.

Does anyone else have an opinion?

Julie
