Barnard Fall 2017 Transfer

Pretty sure it will be next week? I’m hoping it won’t be the following Monday.

@Transfer510 Yes, or next, next week…eek. I find out Columbia’s decision tomorrow. So nervous.

@LAtonewyork Good luck!! Do you know by any change how often they waitlist or if they ever defer kids to spring semester?

@Transfer510 No idea how often they waitlist, but I know that it exists. According to past threads, waitlisted applicants have been notified of their final status by mid-June. Here’s an FAQ from Barnard about the waitlist:

https://barnard.edu/sites/default/files/inline/frequently_asked_questions_concerning_the_waiting_list_0.pdf

To me it reads as if it is addressed to freshman applicants more than anything as it says, “We try and let candidates know as soon as possible, but since May 1st is the universal reply date for admitted students, you should not expect to hear whether you are offered a space until the second week of May at the earliest.” Of course, as transfer applicants, none of us–waitlisted or not–received decisions prior to May 1.

I haven’t come across any threads that mention deferment–just accepted, rejected, and waitlisted.

Did you all apply for financial aid? I decided against it as they are need-aware for transfers

@LAtonewyork Whatttt. Omg transfers literally get the worst of everything

Made it into Columbia today! Hope to see you all in New York!!

@LAtonewyork Congrats!

@LAtonewyork Amazing!! Congrats!! are you for sure going there?

@Transfer510 Pretty dead set on Columbia. If Harvard accepts me, I would have to seriously consider between the two. But I am in love with Columbia and everything about New York!

@Transfer510 Would you be willing to share your stats?

@latonewyork. Congratulations! If you are not going to accept a place at Barnard if you get in, could you please let them know today that you withdraw your application? It would likely help one person get a yes rather than a waitlist. Thanks for considering it and hope we meet at the steps in the fall!

Last year, Barnard Admissions’ Twitter page tweeted a day or two before transfer decisions, so I’d keep an eye out for them.

^^^ True! And possibly a waitlist instead of a rejection @maximus22 Do you guys they’ve reviewed most of them by now?

I turned on twitter notifications for bcadmit earlier today for that exact reason. I would assume they email too to tell us when results come out but who knows. And yeah, I would think that they’re almost done reviewing everyone’s applications.

What kind of things are you guys thinking of getting involved in if you end up on campus? I’m thinking of writing for a few of the campus publications.

It seems like in past threads people got accepted via mail and rejected via email so i dont want any emails from them haha

Rejected, oops.
