Tomorrow is most likely when we will all hear back. I called admissions and she made it sound like everyone was going to receive their decision by the end of the day tomorrow. I’ve been constantly checking my emails/snail mail!
@cago101 I applied to both pepperdine and LMU. Out of the two I preferred Pepperinde more. LMU admissions was a mess for me. They lost so many of my supplements/transcripts. And then they reviewed me for admissions for the wrong semester! I applied for spring and they reviewed me for fall. I don’t know how they managed that haha
@rkeens918 what did she say to make you think tomorrow?
@runningoncoffee I spoke to her about how I had connected with other girls who applied and almost none of us had heard back yet. She said the admissions rep that she spoke with said anyone who hasn’t gotten one as of today is getting their decision in their portal at the end of tomorrow.
Portal? I thought they always email or mail :\
@Feminista01 they do email! The email they send you takes you to a link that has your updated status in your portal
@rkeens918 thank you for the info!! Maybe now I’ll take a break from staring at my email!
I’m scared I won’t get in because i need a lot of financial help. I’m qualified. My gardes are there, my test scores are there, I have what it takes. But I do need A LOT of financial help so I’m scared.
@NathaliaNhem You shouldn’t worry about getting rejected based on financial need because Barnard - and most top tier universities - are need-blind i.e. they are unaware of your financial status during the admissions process!
@mdaly99 @NathaliaNhem Barnard is “need-aware” for Transfer applicants. International transfer applicants do not receive need-based financial aid from the institution at all.
“In our review of applications from international citizens and applications from all transfer students, Barnard is “need-aware. That means we will consider a student’s financial need in our admissions decision making. When considering transfer students who are US citizens or permanent residents, Barnard has limited funding available, and we are aware of financial need when reviewing admissions applications. Fall transfers are eligible for both Barnard College grant aid and for federal and state aid. Barnard is able to award a moderate number of fall transfer students with need-based aid (grants and/or loans). Spring transfers are not eligible for Barnard College grant aid and are only eligible to apply for federal and state aid. We strongly recommend that transfer applicants who will need aid apply for the Fall term.”
@mdaly99 Barnard is need-aware for transfer students! They are need-blind for freshmen, but not transfers. :((
@jonesnyc123 I know, that’s why I’m worried!!! ahhhhhhhhh :((
@NathaliaNhem - Me too, lol. Butttt, unfortunately that’s the way it goes. I’m assuming most of us will be facing this delimma, as I certainly don’t come from a wealthy family whatsoever. Preparing myself for even more student loan debt, and tons of work study.
@NathaliaNhem I’m in the same boat. My EFC is 0, but my background, grades, etc. are so strong. I wish I had known about Barnard when I was in high school. I have a feeling I would have had a stronger chance. Oh, well. Everything happens for a reason, I guess.
@jonesnyc123 @WordSmithNY Ughhhhh, it isn’t fair to us! But hey, I’m pretty sure they will still accept some of us low-income students! Let’s stay positive!
@NathaliaNhem @jonesnyc123 Oh no, I wasn’t aware of that… I’m really worried now, as I am in the same situation…
