Barnard Opportunity Program?

Hello everyone! I am interested in applying to Barnard. If I apply for the BOP, will my chances of acceptance increase since I come from a low-income family?

And how exactly do I apply for the BOP? On the Common App Supplement, the last question is about the HEOP Scholars Program, but I do not qualify for that since I am not a New York resident. So how do I indicate that I am interested in the BOP?

Thanks!!

For complete info go here:

[Barnard Opportunity Program (non-NYS residents) | Barnard College](http://barnard.edu/admissions/apply/higher-ed-opportunity-programs/bop)

But to answer your question, there is no separate application process for the BOP. You must apply to Barnard for admission and meet all the deadlines and you must apply for financial aid. There are general guidelines on the link above, and all applicants who meet those are considered.

Best to you!

Thanks for the help!

For the Common App Supplement, should I answer the last question addressing the HEOP Scholars Program even though I am interested in the BOP?

Why not call the Barnard Admissions Office and ask? Surely they’re the ones who know the answer.

And to answer your first question, yes - as long as you meet the eligibility requirements.

if you are not a NY resident then you do not qualify for HEOP
