whats her major?

thanks so much

I transferred two years ago from the University of South Florida. The year I entered the SAT's of enrolled transfers were 680V, 650M, and they took just over a third of the students. I don't know what the GPA was, but I think above a 3.7 is the general range they want you to be in, from a school of similar rigor. Your essay really matters, because numbers aren't as important in transfer decisions. Why you want to be at Barnard, and what makes you special, are the most important things. Barnard has a great transfer tradition, btw. They save spots in the class for transfers, and we get about 80 every fall and 20 every spring.

may i ask how you like it there right now?

my sats are 670 v and 670m i have about 710 on 3 sat II's

heres to hoping and keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Oh, I absolutely love it. I could go on for days about how great this place has been for me.

Your test scores are solid, so here's hoping you made a convincing case for why you need to be here and why Barnard needs you. Good luck!!

I had a 630 in V and and a 650 in math but i had high Sat 2 scores, i also did the barnard summer program and i have veyr good recommendations from there, I am planning on transferring from Bryn Mawr College and my gpa here will be between 3.5-3.8. My high school is also very well known in hte barnard admissions office. i attended a private high school in hte nyc metro area adn my college counselro in high school worked in admissions at barnard for eight years before she came to my school two years ago. Do you think i have a chance as a transfer student

What's your reason for transferring and how will your letters from Bryn Mawr be (the soft factors matter a lot more for transfers)? Your numbers are enough to keep you in the running, but they're not amazing enough to get you in by themselves.

But the facts that 1) you're from the NYC area, and 2) you're coming from a women's college, probably show that you know you like both of those things, so Barnard is an obvious choice for you.

My letters from Bryn mawr will be excellent since i've established relationships with professors. Also a few of the admissions people there know me from my guidance counselor and the amount of time i've spent there. I also have plenty of extra curriculars and work experience wen i transfer i plan to apply to Barnard, NYU , and Fordham lincoln center. I need to b in an urban environment. Also I feel Bryn mawr doesnt offer enough courses in what I would like to study and I hope to establish connections for my future career in the nyc area.

Just make sure all of that comes through in your essay, and you've got a great shot. Barnard's really proud of its internship opportunities, btw, so you might want to mention that you want to take advantage of that (in the "Why Barnard?" type essay). There's a well-connected alumnae network here, since so many stay in the city after graduation.
