Barnard RD 2016 Hopefuls!

I think it’s safe to start this thread with the RD deadline approaching. Lets try to keep this going until the decisions start coming out. Post stats if you like!

Working on the supplement now. It’s scary.

Same! I haven’t finish it yet I’m trying to perfect it. haha it’s very scary!!!

some parts of the supplement aren’t bad, but the community question has me stumped! i guess that’s what happens when one doesn’t have much life experience…

omg! that’s what I am stuck on also! literally been staring at it for days…when are you planning on submitting ?

the “majored in unafraid” one is the hardest for me…because what i want to talk about it the topic for my common app essay. just going to submit whenever i get all this done!

what are all your statsss?

Hi, everyone! Another Barnard hopeful. It’s my top choice.  My standardized test scores aren’t fabulous (CR 710, W 670, M 570; ACT 29…math always brings me down!) but I feel like Barnard isn’t lying when they say they look at us holistically. My extra-curriculars are focused, and I like to think my supplements are pretty kick butt. Good luck, everyone, we’ve got a long 4 months ahead of us…

Good luck, ladies! I hope I get to see all of you next year.

Tomorrow is crunch time for me to finish my supplements and submit them! Good luck ladies =)

Luckily my teacher is helping me with my supplements over break, so I’m just waiting for him to reply back with his revisions! Weirdly, the first question stumped me. It was hard for me to explain why I liked their educational system so much. The rest were easy for me though, and my teacher they’ll attract the admissions office. Fingers crossed! Good luck to everyone! Remember, we’re all in this together!!! :)

Sent mine today! Quite liberating. Of course now I’m worrying in retrospect that my essays weren’t good enough… sigh

So exciting/nervewracking! I saved my Barnard supplement for last so that I could obsessively review it and submit tomorrow. I’ve been castigating myself for two months for not applying ED–if only it had EDII like all of the other lovely LACs! Stats are CR 720, W 800, M 650 (2170) SAT and 3.8 ish GPA (tough private school, upward trend). Looking forward to getting to know you all over the next few nailbiting motnhs! Any other visual arts girls?

I just sent in my supplement last night so I could pay the application fee so I’m working on the common app essay until tomorrow.

Just submitted everything! Yay!

Having such issues with the supplement; everything is SO OVER THE WORD LIMITS. And to top it off I’m not 100% sure my community one REALLY answers the question. :S Anyone willing to take a look?
BTW, my stats are: SAT I 2350 (750 Maths), SAT II Lit 780, Maths II 730. No GPA (international) but didn’t do awesomely on my final exams and my ECs are possibly below average :S so it’s a little scary.

Just submitted my supplement!!! I feel so free haha, it was the last thing I need to do for my app. I uploaded documents for all of them because I couldn’t keep it in the limit. I read previous threads that it is totally fine. GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!! I hope all of us are decorating our dorm rooms next fall lol!

What? Are we allowed to go over the limits? Are they okay with this??

In my opinion I think you can I mean why would there be an option to upload a document? I have read numerous older threads where people have said that it is fine. One person even called Barnard. Hope this helps!!

Hey ladies! Good luck to all of you applying, I thought it was hard enough applying to Barnard ED, I can’t imagine how hard it is to juggle other applications in addition! Just a comment on the supplement length, I’ll have you know that all of my supplements were over the character limit and they were all uploaded (just remember to put your name and SSN at the top like the common app specifies). My largest supplement was 1500 characters long, and that’s well over the limit (though I suggest try not going beyond that, or that’s really pushing it). I think they generally want a well-developed, fat paragraph and I recommend doing uploading instead considering it gives you a little more freedom with the character limit without cutting words out. Also, Barnard in no way counts the characters or words and they really don’t mind having the extra characters as long as you don’t go near half a page, I already confirmed this with a short phone call. Best of luck to you ladies! If you have any questions regarding the application process, let me know, I’ll be lurking around this forum a bit :)
